Concerned, Julia seeks to learn more about Lucas’s home life. When it appears that he is living in dire conditions, Julia and her brother Paul (Jesse Plemons), the town’s sheriff, explore further, eventually discovering that Lucas is harboring a dangerous secret. When they ultimately learn the whole truth about Lucas’s family, things take a terrifying turn. Genre master del Toro is joined by producers David S. Goyer and J. Miles Dale, with Jim Rowe, Nick Antosca and Kevin Turen as executive producers. Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane and Amy Madigan also star in this chilling story that ties an ancient terror to insatiable human greed and its modern wages of poverty, addiction and environmental devastation.

Worth the waitBrilliant from start to finish. Purchased both the physical disc and the iTunes stream as soon as it was available. Yes, it's that good. I almost rewatched it as soon as it ended, and I expect to watch it many more times before the year's end. Great storyline, perfect cast, and directed. Not to mention, it's gorgeous to look at on 4K as well. Winner all round..Score: 5/5

White washing Oji-Cree Monster and culturally erasing the nativeIt’s sad that Scott Cooper had to go to such lengths to steal an Oji-Cree story and culturally appropriate it without an ounce of the Native American (specifically Oji-Cree) collective experience. The entire movie centers on white people being affected by the Windigo and it was eye rolling ridiculous. Even the only Oji-Cree character (with 2 mins of screen time I might add), says “is the boy native”? So, why does Scott Cooper want to be apart of and appropriate these stories now? Because he ran out of original ideas and lacks creativity as a visual storyteller. Thankfully it was a poorly made snooze fest with very bland characters and a white washed monster..Score: 1/5
