CreepyThe acting was good and the surprise of notable actors was really good. Penn, Waits, Cooper were terrific. But I find the premise of the story pretty creepy. A 25 yo woman loving a 15 yo boy. They put people in jail for these types of relationships. How does this fair with youngsters watching this movie? I just don't get it..Score: 2/5
Eh - disappointing for all the hypeThe best thing about this movie was the movie - period. Otherwise, while the acting was good, the story was all over the place. The ending was crap leaving one to figure it out on their own. I'm so glad I didn't spend money to see this at the movie theater..Score: 3/5
It’s a delightOk, I agree that it could have been edited a bit more. There are times that if feels a little dreamy… but it’s so good. It doesn’t take itself too seriously. There are lots of laughs in it. It was just delightful. It felt fresh & new & I highly recommend!.Score: 5/5
Great Craftsmanship ≠ Great MovieThere are wonderful pieces of film here to take bite of and enjoy, but why? “Stumblin’ In” is a song featured in the picture, and the movie encompasses these lyrics. The lyric’s specific self accounted romance is applied to that of a teenage boy and young woman who’s nature is twisted to each other. “You were so young and I was so free I may have been young But, baby, that’s not what I wanted to be. ... Oh stumblin’ in. I’m stumblin’ in. Foolishly layin’ our hearts on the table, stumblin’ in.” Film enthusiasts will be allured by the picture’s craftsmanship and performances, and movie goers will be allured by its branding. My hope is that this situation doesn’t give excuse to claim, this is a great picture. There are many reasons worth watching any movie, but not many worth enjoying. Movies aren’t meant to just resolve themselves in the end. They should resolve everything in you that they’ve started within you. How do you feel once the movie has ended? Are you cured of the feelings you felt as the misguided young woman and the over-eager teenage boy, or were you given an excuse to sooth yourself with a glorified justification of a foolhardy love. Did you come to an understanding of the truths fantasies were meant to expose? The reality is, the movie doesn’t care about the truth. It misuses fantasy to excite bad ideas that’ve hurt our cultures and its young ones..Score: 2/5
