Oscar®-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele reimagines the summer movie with Nope, an expansive pop epic of uncanny science fiction. Following their father's shocking death, Hollywood animal wrangler OJ (Daniel Kaluuya) and his sister Emerald (Keke Palmer) begin observing unexplained phenomena on their vast Southern California ranch that leads them down an obsessive rabbit hole as they plot attempts to capture the mystery on camera. Along with a former child star turned family theme park ringmaster (Steven Yeun) who neighbors the siblings, the pair's efforts to chase the spectacle soon bring terrifying consequences and unimaginable horror. The result is a complex social thriller that unpacks the seeds of violence, risk and opportunism that are inseparable from the romanticized history of the American West and from show business itself.

NOPE,NOPE,NOPE!Do not, I repeat, do not waste 2 hours of your life on possibly one of the most overrated, overhyped sci-fi movies of all time. Very boring with lots of plot dead ends. This movie will leave you very disappointed from start to finish. Only reason it’s rated R is from the repeated swearing from kiki Palmer. Story is very unoriginal. The best part of the movie was some tail off of the main plot that involved a monkey that literally had nothing to do with the movie at all. Spoiler alert, no aliens at all, just a big flying thing that looks like a flying saucer/hot air balloon. Awful! Rotten once again gives a horrible movie a high rating. The movie studios must pay rotten for these scores. Reverse the score which would be a 28% and that’s a more accurate rating..Score: 1/5

Homage to 70’s MoviesThis might be my favorite Peele movie so far. It is such a wink to many movies of the 70’s, especially one that if I mentioned it would be a total spoiler (it’s not Close Encounter of the 3rd Kind, but movie I’m talking about is the granddaddy of blockbusters). This is a movie that in the end is about spectacle while being a spectacle itself. Don’t get the reviews about ‘not understanding’ the movie. While the movie is loaded with symbolism and metaphors, the plot is pretty straightforward. It almost feels like this movie is being review bombed..Score: 5/5

Love it.There are a couple pretty disturbing scenes, but this isn’t really a horror film. And that’s okay, because this movie is an absolute standout! The cinematography, the sound design, the dialogue, the characters, the plot, the pacing, the tension, the acting. The “monster” design!! All amazing. There’s a pretty clear message that you don’t have to dig very deep to find, with the one word that’s said a few times. Even I got it, so… I don’t know, try one of those “endings explained” Youtube channels. Just don’t go into it expecting a typical alien abduction film, toss those thoughts out the window. There’s also a few decent anime nods..Score: 5/5
