Here's the truth....You either love it or hate it, i do not know if there could be an in between. Some people just don't get the humor, and that's okay. I for one love the movie, It's FUN, which is what i look for in a movie. Now the humor is....goofy/dry/sneaky/silly, and maybe that's why some people dislike it. RENT it FIRST, if you love it BUY IT!!.Score: 5/5
This movie was great until ...... they started changing stuff!The HHGG is one of my all time favorite novels/series and I thought this movie was going to be great but the casting was all wrong for a start. Mos Def is a great rapper and rising celebrity but to cast him as Ford Prefect didn't sit well with me but it wasn't that bad. The character of Trisha McMillin (Trillion) was supposed to be "a darkish girl, vaguely arabic, with ridiculously brown eyes" if I remember correctly well the actress wasn't darkish, arabic, or had brown eyes. Zaphod was supposed to smoother and slicker than he was portrayed and not some silly joke of a person with instead of a british accent they gave him a southern texas accent?! Arthur Dent as a romantic? That wasn't called for nor was it done right. Marvin was ... actually I liked how Marvin looked. As for the villain he was totally unnecessary as well as the love interest for Zaphod at the end. Why did they make the Heart of Gold into a sphere shaped spaceship instead of the "sleek running shoe" that it was supposed to look like?! I wanted to see a Nike or Converse design and I was anticipating it. i could go on but I'm not cause I'll start to get angry at my own disappointment. Now the things that I liked were how the vogons and their ships looked, the animations during the narratives were awesome, the whole scene where Arthur and Slarty were going through production plant was spectacular! If you've read the books I would suggest you rent this first instead of purchasing it..Score: 3/5

Why read too much into it?Honestly, why pick at every little imperfection? It's a movie, if you rip every movie that was a book first you'll live a very dull life. As for Ozzie down there ripping on American humor, stop being so close-minded and don't talk down about other people and their sense of humor. That's what being American is about, we let other people feel how they want, but when you try to talk down about people because you feel differently, that's just wrong. Don't forget your towel!I loved this movie! A great laugh! I, although, have never read the book by Douglas Adams, but even if you haven't read the book, this movie can still be thoroughly enjoyed. The acting was good, the movie effects are awesome, and the whole idea of the movie is great. It is a little on the far-out side, but it's a good movie for those who know that there's more out there in the universe than Earth and our solar system!.Score: 5/5
5starsIt's just a fun movie. And the cinematography is amazing. Acting is superb. A lot of the negative comments I think are from people who have read the book first so fair enough, a movie is rarely as good or better then the book or original tv series's/movie but those new to this universe will thoroughly enjoy this film. Ive only bought 2 movies n iTunes, Private Parts and this film. and I wasn't disappointed in either well worth $10 thats like 4 cups of coffee or 1 liter of gas :P (ah gasoline jokes...how I love you.).Score: 5/5
DONDouglas Adams' brainchild is probably the only groundbreaking sci-fi comedy ever made. The movie, even though I for one liked it, may never rival the original radioplay, the novels or the BAFTA-winning TV miniseries. But I think it earns enough success to draw sci-fi comedy fans, who weren't originally familiar with The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, to the original versions. I first familiarized myself with Adams' timeless classic through the TV miniseries and I'm grateful for that. The movie works, if not for any other reason, for the sake of entertainment. But you can never surpass originality. It's still a fine tribute to Adams and a pretty good movie. Especially if it can attract big names like John Malkovich and Helen Mirren..Score: 3/5
