Workaholic Jim Evers and his wife/business partner Sara get a call one night from a mansion owner, Edward Gracey, who wants to sell his house. Once the Evers family arrive at the mansion, a torrential thunderstorm of mysterious origin strands them with the brooding, eccentric Gracey, his mysterious butler, and a variety of residents both seen and unseen.

Eddie Murphy Tries. He really does.Foolish Mortals - why did you do this to us? The only reason this doesn’t have a half star is because of Eddie Murphy, who brings his A game to an F script. I gained a new admiration for the legendary comedian, who surely realized this was a mess but put his best foot forward regardless. Unsure what kind of comedy it is, Haunted Mansion takes a wealth of source material and buries 95% of it in the mausoleum. It’s a bizarre fever dream of random story elements that doesn’t know who it should cater to- an intro sequence shows a man’s suicide while a later sequence shows singing ceramic heads being silly. Here’s hoping that we one day get the Haunted Mansion we deserve..Score: 1/5

The Haunted Mansion MovieThe Haunted Mansion Movie is a good movie that I enjoy watching. It’s fast paced, and never tedious. Though, I was not amazed. The Movie is based on the original Disney ride. Instead of using the dark and spectacular concept of a couple and their deadly adventures in a grand Mansion, the movie stars Eddie Murphy as an ignorant real estate agent attempting to sell a house. I felt that every scene, that had potential for being fantastic, was ruined by Eddie. However, there were several nice references to the ride in the film, such as the soundtrack. I loved the music, as it captured the feel of the ride. It also incorporated the famous, “grim grinning ghosts” song. Overall, it’s a good movie that could have been a lot better. The first three minutes are the best..Score: 4/5

AMAZING movie!This movie is wonderful to watch with people of all ages. I was in 4th grade when it came out and my brother was in kindergarten.....we both LOVED it! The Haunted Mansion combines the comedy of Eddie Murphy with the spooky-ness of Disney's classic theme park ride - the Haunted Mansion. This movie is scary, but not too scary for the kids. An exciting movie for all ages. I highly reccomend purchasing this movie!!.Score: 5/5

Frightfully dreadfulThis movie has so much dead space to be filled, I am not sure what happened to the ghost writers skills. They must have died! Disney had the opportunity to make an amazing movie franchise with the Haunted Mansion, instead, this grim movie killed it. Our only hope is that Madam Leota could materialize some disembodied folks to reboot it at this point. The lack-lucster Eddie Murphy humor, well, it wasn't funny. Beautiful and engagingThis story is perfect, the set is perfect and Nathaniel Parker is perfect. I can see why it got bad reviews though as Eddie Murphy's comedy angle was totally unnecessary and took away from the beauty of the film. Nathaniel Parker's charm and poise made his portrayal of Master Edward Gracey unforgettable and I can't imagine anyone else coming close to his performance. His costumes were gorgeous and the props in the mansion (dining room set alone is breathtaking) couldn't have been better. I will always love this film - no matter how many times they try and remake it..Score: 5/5
