At first glance, this village seems picture perfect, but this close-knit community lives with the frightening knowledge that creatures reside in the surrounding woods. The evil and foreboding force is so unnerving that none dare venture beyond the borders of the village and into the woods. The VillageThis is an excellent example of suspense with out the vulgar gore that so often ruins horror film. All of the true classic horror films have been with out it and that this film embraces that tradition allows for an undiluted experience allowing the cinematic beauty of the scenes to sink in. The rich colors chosen for the characters the way that they express the individuality and community of the world they live in. The yellow to emphasize the feeling of togetherness, how they handle the seemingly dangerous world they live in by the visual representation of "together we are strong"and the red to emphasize the fear of the unknown, and how they have the belief that if you remove what scares you it some how goes away. It was headed in the right direction, until the ending.SPOILERS ALERT: Honestly, it's a shame that The Village couldn't be a horror movie. Finding out that the werewolf was actually some guy dressed up was quite disappointing. The ending's supposedly "scary scenes"are ridiculous. Honestly, there is a jump scene where a mentally challenged male chases a woman. The beginning of the film offered thrills and chills, it just went downhill after the mentally challenged man murdered the main character's boyfriend. Then the focus became to get medicine for him. Also, surprisingly these characters are living in modern times, they just live in the woods because they don't believe in the new technology that Is out there.
