Stardate: the 23rd Century. Retired Starfleet officers James T. Kirk (William Shatner), Montgomery Scott (James Doohan) and Pavel Chekov (Walter Koenig) are guests of honor aboard the newly christened Enterprise-B. A test run takes an unexpected turn, however, when the starship encounters two vessels trapped inside the Nexus, a mysterious energy ribbon. During a perilous rescue attempt, Kirk is swept out into space. Seven decades later, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew of Enterprise-D rescue an El Aurian physicist named Soran (Malcolm McDowell). Unbeknownst to Picard, Soran harbors a deadly plan that includes the destruction of the Enterprise and millions of lives. Now Picard's only hope for a future rests within the Nexus...and a legendary captain from the past.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise-D find themselves at odds with the renegade scientist Soran who is destroying entire star systems. Only one man can help Picard stop Soran's scheme...and he's been dead for seventy-eight years.

Memories of an amazing experienceI first saw this movie on tape when I was four, and it was my first exposure to Star Trek. I remember every second of that experience, wondering what a "transporter" was, and watching with awe as the Enterprise crash landed on Viridian III. I was hooked on Trek from that point on. This movie is amazing. The special effects are pretty good and it's a lot of fun to watch with the surround sound on, especially with the Enterprise B in the Ribbon. Data is hilarious in this movie with his emotion chip, and Soran (sp?) is very convincing as a madman on a mission. Truly, truly amazing. HIGHLY reccommended..Score: 5/5
A good film introducing a New castGenerations is fun to see the torch passed from Kirk to Picard. To see the Enterprise B and that crew. Data has some of his best one-liners of all the movies. For the reviews who complain about the Villain, don't listen to them. The Villain is a 200+ year old genius who is in danger of killing hundreds of millions of people to get what he wants. The plot is fine and is quite interesting how the 2 crews are joined together. If you think odd numbered trek movies are worse than even numbered movies then you have no life and need to get out of the house more than once a month because you are a geek. Trek is cool with me. Shatner does a good job, even though a small part he is as entertaining as usual..Score: 3/5
Just plain badI'm at a loss to understand those who rated this 5 stars. What were you watching and what drugs were you taking? Must be potent to make you think this rated 5 stars. This is a terrible movie, plain and simple. Almost makes Star Trek V look good in comparison, which is really saying something. No wonder Leonard Nimoy and Deforest Kelly passed on this one. Worst Trek movie everThis is the worst star trek movie ever. Way to many plot holes. Also the exacting detail to which Star Trek has previously at least tried to stay within some basic tenets of canon and scientific theory are completely abandoned with this movie. For instance when the saucer crashes why on earth windows break? They are made of transparent aluminum. Not glass. This was a sad sad movie. A trek to "Die" for...A great movie. The effects of the iTunes version I have not seen. I have the DVD and the movie is great. I won't ruin it, but The "Shatman" and Picard make a great team in the end. I suggest it because my little brother, who doesn't like Star Trek at all, LOVED this movie. The best part is when the saucer section of the Enterprise has to split to avoid being killed by a warp core drive. The part I like is with Scotty and Chekov. They rock. The movie also introduces the launch of the Enterprise-B, Excelsior Class commanded by Capt. John Harriman. Enjoy!.Score: 5/5
