Harvard Law student Oliver Barrett IV and music student Jennifer Cavilleri share a chemistry they cannot deny - and a love they cannot ignore. Despite their opposite backgrounds, the young couple put their hearts on the line for each other. When they marry, Oliver's wealthy father threatens to disown him. Jenny tries to reconcile the Barrett men, but to no avail.

PUH-LEASE.Stupid. Boring. Abnoxious. There are many words to describe Love Story, but none of them are good. From it's cheesy, unoriginal title to the annoying actors to really, really bad plotline, this is NOT a movie worth seeing. "Being in love means never having to say you're sorry"? No, I'M sorry I watched this horrendous movie. Being in love doesn't mean never saying sorry, it means being willing to say you're sorry. PUH-LEASE..Score: 1/5
GUILTY PLEASUREI should dislike this movie ....every insipid, sappy moment,,,,with lines of dialogue that make me cringe.....but I really like it. The book was the first "adult" book I recall reading and seeing the slightly edited version on television came at a crucial period of my adolescence and made a lingering impression. It is the charm and likability of Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal that carry one over the clunky bumps in the movie. It is a stupid thing to admit but I sometimes hope there will be a happy ending when I know full well the outcome and we are already made aware of this in the voice over narration within the first few seconds of the movie. I know I am being shameless manipulated but it just works.....and I am a guy who does not get suckered into these emotions easily. Had it not been for MaGraw and O'Neal perhaps this would be a significantly lesser movie and forgotten within it's own period of time. It appeals to the hopeless romantic in me, I guess, despite all of it's short commings. It probably looks very silly and dated by today's cynical and jaded standards but it will live on beyond whatever modern audience's consider romantic..Score: 4/5
Classic and definitely worth it, but no "Notebook"It was probably groundbreaking for its time but a little tame for today. Great relationship buildup, realistic without being overly sappy. When the tragedy strikes it is also treated realistically without too much lingering on the tear-jerking aspects as is so common in more recent films. A nice film but not as "personal" as some others..Score: 3/5

The MusicITS a Classic, I grew up and remeber in the 70's when this movie came out. The story is sad, but the feeling of love is felt in the music and emotion. Time moves on but a classic like this live on in those who remember it..Score: 5/5

UnforgetableI saw this movie in 1970 in the movie theatre and it is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Although it is a 'tear-jerker' it has many memorable moments. One of the best romance movies ever!.Score: 5/5
I love it when the critics are wrongGreat movie. Think more about the human element and the themes running through the film. Kind of a cross theme between a Bobby Goldsboro song (Honey) and a Harry Chapin song (Cat's in the Cradle). So, let a cool breeze blow through your hair, relax and enjoy a pleasant film with a tough ending. A bit morality lay with great music..Score: 5/5
