Set in the not too distant future, the highways of Australia are ruled by violent gangs who have turned the roads into a battleground and mercilessly terrorize the innocent. Mel Gibson stars as Max Rockatansky, a policeman who is forced to take the law into his own hands when the gang targets him for the death of their former leader.

Good, but mainly back storyThis is a great movie, and having it in the original sound track (not dubbed for American audiences) is a big plus. I believe this is a lead in for one of the greatest movies ever. Mad Max 2, otherwise known as The Road Warrior.
You can see the genius of the direction and editing. The story is basic revenge ala "Death wish" but Max is too skilled to die.
The action scenes are well done and the road scenes set a standard that have been hard to match without looking over the top.

This Sux?To the posts below, compared to T2 and RoboCop? Look at the cover art, if you wanted Hollywood mega buck why would you buy this? This is a time capsule movie perfectly capturing the post cold war/starwars nuclear defense era that was the early '80's. It's fine if you like the movies that we were told we should like back then, but at least take a closer look at the movies that bubbled up from the underbelly.

Is the original USA dubbed version included?I prefer to watch this movie as I saw it upon it’s cinema debut back in (’79 or ’80) with voice actors dubbing the dialog. Sold as HD, not even close . . .This is a classic movie, no doubt. It’s sold on iTunes as HD, however, and the version that plays isn’t even close to HD. Just a simple idea that became a classic.....Where the discription and reviews have got this wrong is that this is not post apocalyptic movie but a glimpse at the final deathrattle of a world and the people in it trying to survive the events to come. This is not a revenge movie alone nor is it just a journey to of a man into emotional hell but a telling look at what honestly whould be a good person driven to extremes by circumstances that noone should have to go though....
