Melodrama about stock car racing has driver Frankie Avalon getting mixed up with moonshiners when he pauses in a southern town to do some racing. Fabian is the local playboy who provides competition for Avalon on and off the track while Annette Funicello is the love interest.

Makes "Days of Thunder" seem like "Citizen Kane"Plot? We don't no steenkin' plot! Frankie, Anette and Fabian must have all discovered drugs at about the same time this pic started burning daylight. The only redeeming feature is the filler -- a solid dose of great vintage NASCAR film footage of a variety of mid-60's heroes including Petty, Derringer, Yarbrough and more. Extra points for the sportsman, short track and USAC Riverside footage, including Clem Proctor's reverse 180 that crumbled his car into a cube. The rest of the movie, well you had to have an excuse to stay out late, right? As the good people of Hooters are fond of saying: "Unrefined, yet delightfully tacky.".Score: 1/5

This movie happened to be included in the box set. I watched it. WHAT IN THE HECK HAPPENED?! The Frankie/Annette movies used to be so cute and meant for all ages. They would have been rated "G" THIS ovie on the other hand... They CURSE! They BLEED! PG-13!!! Not to mention Frankie and Annette are no longer a couple!
