Crash...Other than the fact that I was almost in tears watching this, I was stunned. I also did a music search for one of the songs that played in the background, I still love it to this day. This movie is great! I'm currently downloading it to my iPad..Kitten283Score: 4/5
I can understand the criticismI read over the 'most critical' reviews and I'm confused about the people who wrote it.
The movie is contrived and the plot belabors the message about how 'bad' racism is.
First off, aren't all movies contrived? If you're looking for something more practical, watch documentaries and read statistics. Haggis had to be original with something; the characters and their overlapping stories were it. Haggis' intent was not to depict the scope of the people in LA, it's to emphasize the effects of racism.
Secondly, it was good that the movie belabored the subject of racism. If anything was evoked in that movie about the shameful yet inevitability of stereotyping people, Haggis got the message across. If you were bored because there was only one central, coherent theme, I suggest watching commercials.
The performance was good only because I've never seen "the best" acting. Plotwise, things are simple enough to be understood and the message is clear. There was drama, few action scenes, and few sexual content which may detract from the experience of action/adventure junkies.
Bottom line is, if you're looking for a story that makes a clear and broad statement about racism/stereotyping, this is a good example..GoodMovieReviewsScore: 3/5
