An American remake of Akira Kurasawa's Japanese classic, "The Seven Samurai." A bandit terrorizes a small Mexican farming village each year. Several of the village elders send three of the farmers into the United States to search for gunmen to defend them. They end up with 7, each of whom comes for a different reason. They must prepare the town to repulse an army of over 100 bandits who will arrive wanting all of their food.

Looking to mine for gold, greedy industrialist Bartholomew Bogue seizes control of the Old West town of Rose Creek. With their lives in jeopardy, Emma Cullen and other desperate residents turn to bounty hunter Sam Chisolm for help. Chisolm recruits an eclectic group of gunslingers to take on Bogue and his ruthless henchmen. With a deadly showdown on the horizon, the seven mercenaries soon find themselves fighting for more than just money once the bullets start to fly.

"At the end, we did not win. The farmers won, not us."The title is a quote from the great Akira Kurosawa classic Seven Samurai, which this movie was based on. This movie, along with a Fistfull of Dollars, proves that Kurosawa's genius can fit in any movie. There are alot of similarities with this film that shares the original Kurosawa classic moments. But, guess what? It feels like it belongs here. Because it used a good plot (legitimately), it works. So, check it out.
I know I am speaking as a Kurosawa fan when I ask this: Is there anyway you could upload the following classics onto the iTunes store?

Akira kurosawa's is the the best by far but this is still good...Check out akira kurosawa's rendition of seven samuria called ironically samuria seven. It was remade by toshifumi takizawa. Amazingly remade- Kurosawa would have been proud. It will run you $120 though:(.PasplundScore: 4/5
The best western everI first saw this masterpiece in early 1963. Beyond the film itself, there is Bernstein's magical score which I use every day to invigorate myself. For many years I have enjoyed each performance and have watched with keen interest as this one of a kind effort created an entire genre that stretched beyond just westerns. The stars went on to long and illustrious careers as icons but this film provided a springboard for them all.....each an unique talent whose original style provided me with many hours of absolute joy. Sad to say that all but two of the Seven have passed on now but live forever through the richness of this classic..Headhunter1Score: 5/5
Transcends GenerationsPhenomenal cast. Each brings something different to the story, and executes it flawlessly with commanding screen presence. The pacing is perfect, aided by masterful incorporation of a magnificent musical score. The films only discontinuity is an overly one-dimensional portraial of the villagers. I cannot help but wonder, however, if this is not an intentional medium used to juxtapose a greater sense of depth onto the protagonists. I showed this film to my 11 and 8 year old sons. They were riveted, which of itself says a lot in the "Clone Wars" era. Afterwards, each said "this is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen." Transcendent indeed!.DrSweetmonkeyScore: 5/5
