Average teenager Peter Parker is transformed into an extraordinary super hero after he is accidentally bitten by a radioactive spider. When his beloved uncle is savagely murdered during a robbery, young Peter vows to use his powers to avenge his death. Deeming himself "Spider-Man," he sets about ridding the streets of crime, bringing him into conflict with malevolent super-villain "Green Goblin."

Peter Parker is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a super-hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

A Marvel Classic!This is absolutely a gift to the Marvel Universe! And don’t forget all of the legendary Stan Lee cameos! film will always be remembered as the Marvel films get more and more popular! Willem Dafoe was perfect for the part of the Green Goblin, and in my opinion, the best actor for Spider-Man is Tobey Maguire. If you consider yourself a Marvel fan, but haven’t seen this movie, you are not a Marvel fan. It’s that simple. There are a few Marvel movies that make this difference, and this film is one of them. SurprisedThis being an older movie for Spider-Man I didn’t think much of it. Movies from the early 2000s tend to have bad animation but this one was actually pretty good. A Very Strong Comic Book FilmThis film was in development for over two decades before it finally found its release in 2002. Sam Raimi was a strong choice to helm this film. People were exited to see what the very imaginative horror director and openly avid Spider-Man and comic book collector would bring to the iconic character. The controversial announcement of Toby McGuire as the lead made many people nervous, however he proved his worth. The film establishes the origin of the character very well and doesn't waste it's set up time on anything useless to the story. Every character serves a purpose to the story, and there are very few filler moments. The story is easy to follow, but not so easy it is insulting to the audiences intelligence. The plot is very fleshed out and is given a lot of space. The visual style of the film is very vibrant and brings New York and the colorful characters eye poppingly onto the screen. The only parts of the film that lag are the ones where the love triangle between Peter, Harry, and Mary Jane become a forefront in the story. The love triangle feels very shoehorned in and only really makes a difference in the story close to the end, though the same events could have easily transpired without the existence of the love triangle. The romantic dialogue is very odd and takes you out of the story. Most of the cast is fantastic and consistent throughout, though McGuire can on occasion give a very awkward and somewhat empty performance. Overall, the film is brilliant and faithful to the comics without becoming predictable. The stunt work and special effects are amazing, especially for the time. This is a must see for any superhero or comic book fan..RebelHeart11Score: 4/5
