In the near future, "mutants" are the next link in the chain of evolution. X-MenI've known about X-Men for years and years but have never gotten around to watching them. I just now went out and bought all of them from this one to X-Men Apocalypse. Haven't watched the last one yet but very eager to. This was a great movie. I feel like the first 3 X-Men movies are great but a little cheesy since they were a little older. Eh...First of all, you should know that I'm not an X-Men fan. So I never grew up watching the animated series, etc.. So now I'm reviewing all the superhero movies, I figured I should start my reviews of Marvel's films with this one. After the failures of "Batman & Robin" and "Steel", it looked like all was lost for the superhero genre. Luckily, Bryan Singer came along and helped make superheroes cool again. So now that I've seen the first of these movies, did I enjoy it? Well, I don't think it's as good as everyone makes it out to be. But I enjoy some parts of it. I liked Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and the bond between him and that teenage girl. I enjoyed Patrick Stewart as Professor X I see some of the creativity that makes everyone say why I should read the comics. I just didn't find any of the other characters that interesting, save for the teenage girl. The villain I'd have to say is kind of weak as well. I just think his motive has been used a dozen times. I also think the action scenes are too basic. I've seen this type of action before; nothing really new for me. I also don't find the story that interesting, either. But I do think that it has a good cliffhanger for the next movie. Who knows? Maybe I'll like the second one a little more..Bat-ExcellenceScore: 3/5

Good first installmentThough the sequel is vastly superior to this one, X-Men is an enjoyable kick-start to the franchise and to superhero films in general. After the atrocious Batman & Robin, this movie showed superhero movies can be made again. I can see why. Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen give stellar performances in this 2000 film, and Magneto's motivations are very sympathetic and relatable, as are Prof. X's. X-men = awesome. Simple mathPatrick Stewart was an awesome Professor X and Halle Berry was a great Storm (loved those cool glowing eyes).
