Married for almost 50 years, Grant and Fiona's serenity is interrupted by Fiona's increasingly frequent memory lapses. When it is no longer possible for either of them to ignore the fact that she is being consumed by Alzheimer's disease, the limits of love and loyalty are wrenchingly redefined.
Fiona and Grant have been married for nearly 50 years. They have to face the fact that Fiona’s absent-mindedness is a symptom of Alzheimer’s disease. She must go to a specialized nursing home, where she slowly forgets Grant and turns her affection to Aubrey, another patient in the home.

Something to think about...Going into this movie I didn’t really know what to expect. I downloaded it for a long car trip. This is a movie that will truly make you think about your life and the turns it has taken and the ones to come. A stellar performance by Julie Christie. Beautiful scenery and outstanding direction. You Will R-e-m-e-m-b-e-r This Movie!...This is a sad yet wonderful movie. The subject matter is quite universal. The story is told of Alzheimers disease from such a unique perspective.Both leading actors give great performances. Their chemistry is so good it breaks your heart. Julie Christie proves that women can be, and are, sexy and fabulous after 50. She smolders here in an age appropriate way. Olympia Dukakis is great as ever in her supporting role. she's so wise. I was completely involved by this film. Do yourself a favor and see it. Grade A stuff..Score: 5/5

Heart-wrenching story to the highest degree of quality movie-makingA sobering look at alzheimers disease and its affect on the partners involved with this terrible disease. While a fault driven husband (Gordon Pinsent) is losing his wife's (Julie Christie) affections to another man with alzheimers, he succumbs to the will of his former self by having a trist with the man's wife played expertly by Olympia Dukakis. This heart-wrenching story brings to life the sadness and helplessness caused by alzheimers disease. The actors are well-cast in the simple, yet beautiful, Canadian winter settings. This is one of the best movies of 2007. Bring your tissues while saluting Sarah Polley for her excellent screen writing and directing of this sad love story..Score: 5/5
Wow!!!I expected something sorta lighthearted with a cheerful happy ending. This movie was absolutely mesmerizing, and I resented the time at work when I had to put away my iPOD while watching it. (I watched it on the train to and from Washington, DC.) I was struck time and again how simple facial expressions told the story almost as much as the words. Very, very good movie..Score: 5/5
Very sad movieAs someone who watched granparents and my mother go through alzheimers, this movie definitly brings up some emotions. its a good movie but if you have had to lose someone to this horrible disease be prepared for parts of the movie to hit home. i dont beleive the movie is totally accurate but its a movie so it doesnt have to be. its a good movie, i would recomend it, but it can be a bit confusing on the way the production put it together..Score: 4/5
One of the BEST FILMS OF 2007!Julie Christie has given yet, another breathtaking performance. This film is definitely one of her best, the movie was very good, and it is serious at the same time, and it is unforgettable. Sarah Polley does an excellent job directing and the rest of the cast do an excellent job in the film as well.
