He's the flashiest, wildest, richest, most outspoken promoter the boxing world has ever known. He's the Reverend Fred Sultan (Samuel L. Jackson), and when the sport's popularity wanes, he comes up with a heavyweight plan to turn things around.
The Great White Hype Film Synopsis
When the champ's promoter, Rev. Sultan, decides something new is needed to boost the marketability of the boxing matches, he searches and finds the only man to ever beat the champ. The problem is that he isn't a boxer anymore and he's white. However, once Rev. Sultan convinces him to fight, he goes into heavy training while the confident champ takes it easy and falls out of shape.

Per rialzare le quotazioni Fred inventa dal nulla un campione bianco, ripescando un rudere d'uomo che, da dilettante, iflisse l'unica sconfitta al campione in carica.

Der bevorstehende Kampf “Schwarz gegen Weiß” entwickelt sich schon bald zum gigantischen Medienereignis. Während Terry sich verbissen vorbereitet, bekommt Fred jedoch ein neues, (schwer-)gewichtiges Problem, denn sein gefrusteter Champion baut keine Muskel- sondern Fettmassen auf.
