In Arborville, California, three high school students try to protect their hometown from a gelatinous alien life form that engulfs everything it touches. The first to discover the substance and live to tell about it, the trio witness the Blob destroying an elderly man, then it growing to a terrifying size. But no one else has seen the goo, and the police refuse to believe the kids without proof.

Better than the originalBoth films are now terribly dated, but I find the remake ends up having much more to offer (though sadly lacking in the Bacharach theme). The film positively drips 1980s, which is a "bad" in terms of clothes and hair, but a big plus if you are looking for good, gory kills. The screenplay, which was worked on by Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redepmtion, Mist, Green MIle, Walking Dead) is smarter and sharper than it has any right to be..Score: 4/5

This is a brilliant movie!I just saw it. I am amazed that I havent seen it until now. This movie is Brilliant! Anybody who has not seen it yet, watch it. You will not be disappointed. Why filmmakers are not making movies like that? I would not even consider this movie as a horror. This is a fantastic thriller that if released today would be considered unbelievable action/thriller movie. This movie overwhelmed me. The style of this movie is beyond comprehension. It draws you in so much into the moment, you forget yourself! Brilliant!.Score: 5/5
The BlobOK, but a far cry from the original. This was one of the many "re-make" movies from the 80's. It's okay at best but as most re-makes, it can hardly compare to the original which starred Steve McQueen. It's ashame that itunes is investing in movie re-makes such as this, The Fog, The Thing, etc.... They should concentrate more on obtaining the originals..Score: 2/5
The BlobSUPERB! Boy was that movie funny! My family friend baptized "the old man with a funky hand" as a man that turned into a pizza! Lol. No matter what whether funny or horror it was a SUPERB movie to watch as it was as good as I saw it the first time to me it's still a sizzling movie to watch. I'm thinking of purchasing this movie, though I've seen it a thousand time. But this movie was a SUPERB movie worth every penny a movie that you have to see to believe. Great job! :).Score: 5/5
Best horror remake of all time!This was a triumph of practical effects over CGI and the perfect example of an 80's horror flick. This was a pretty gory film for the time, worthy enough to compete against The Thing (1982). One of my favorite horror movies ever..Score: 5/5

An okay remakeA rare case of a remake that's better than the original film, if at least only marginally better. It starts out a lot better. The characters are developed better. The plot plays a nice twist on the viewer and changes lead characters at the end of the third act. The effects are better ... at least at first. Ultimately I think the film shoots itself in the foot much in the same fashion that Tobe Hooper's remake of "Invaders from Mars" does. The last act is all bland, loud action and excessive effects work, substituting tedium for an effective climax. It's at least 2/3 a good film though..Score: 4/5
