Jack Black is at his comic best as Ignacio, a disrespected cook at a Mexican monastery that can barely afford to feed the orphans who live there. Inspired by a local wrestling hero, he decides to moonlight as the not-so-famous Luchador "Nacho Libre" to earn money for the monastery -- not to mention the admiration of beautiful nun Sister Encarnacion.

Nacho Libre is loosely based on the story of Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm"), aka Rev. Sergio Gutierrez Benitez, a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who had a 23-year career as a masked luchador. He competed in order to support the orphanage he directed.

Norsk Nacho er en mann uten talenter. Han vokste opp i et meksikansk kloster, er nå blitt en voksen mann og kokk i klosteret, men passer ikke inn. Nacho har et stort hjerte for de foreldreløse barna han gir mat, men maten er ikke god. Spør du ham, skyldes det i all hovedsak dårlige råvarer. Han innser at han må klekke ut en plan for å skaffe penger til bedre varer og dermed bedre mat til "de små foreldreløse som ikke har noen verdens ting" (og dersom Nacho samtidig kan imponere den vakre søster Encarnación, er det et stort pluss).

Перший бій обертається провалом, але ексцентрична парочка подобається публіці. До того ж герої отримують гроші за участь. Все це надихає їх досягти фіналу і битися з великим лучадором Рамзесом. Також Ігнасіо хоче заробити на турнірі грошей для притулку і завоювати прихильність сестри Енкарнасьйон. На шляху до своїх цілей хлопцям доведеться подолати безліч перешкод та навчитися вірити у себе.

When his friend Pedro (Efren Ramirez) decides to run for class president, it is Napoleon to the rescue to help him triumph over adversity.
Host Damien Lemon sends three comics into a battle of high-stakes comedic gameplay. With points doled out based on the audience's applause, it's all about one-upmanship as competitors attempt to land massive comedy blows and whip the rowdy crowd into a frenzy of raucous laughter. The whole time, the comedians throw roast-like, rapid-fire jabs at each other to knock their opponents off balance. Every show ends with one comedian crowned champion, one eliminated and one ultimately forced to face the crowd and apologize for going down in shameful defeat.
