Big Budget ClassicI can see why many people enjoy this 1954 Disney adaptation of the Jules Verne classic novel, but it fell a little short for me. The acting is subpar and the story didn’t capture the captains motives well. But the set’s and special effects are excellent. Special Disney Movie set the bar highImaginative telling of the Jules Verne novel with top drawer special effects, action, and superb acting. James Mason is brilliant as the dark and complicated Captain Nemo. Kirk Douglas as master harpooner Ned Land is equally good. Český Fantastická cesta profesora Aronnaxe ve filmovém zpracování z roku 1954 legendárního dobrodružného románu Julese Vernea. Profesor Aronnax, proslulý podmořský vědec je vyzván námořnictvem, aby identifikoval záhadného tvora, který zničil parník v Severním Atlantiku. Po mnoha dnech hledání však najde něco, co vůbec nečekal. Záhadný tvor je ve skutečnosti ponorka budoucnoti Nautilus, řízená kapitánem Nemo. Jedná se o naprosto nadčasový snímek co se týče triků, s vynikajícím scénářem a hereckými výkony. Obzvláště záběry Nautila pod hladinou a potápěčské scény byly na svou dobu něco naprosto fantastického. Je to první širokoúhlý film společnosti Walt Disney.

The script of Mr. Majestyk was Elmore Leonard's attempt to concentrate on the plight of Chicano migrant workers, instead the film that hit screens was extensively reshaped into a standard Charles Bronson vehicle.
