Friday the 13th Description

Terror and suspense abound in this 24-hour nightmare of blood. Camp Crystal Lake has been shuttered for over 20 years due to several vicious and unsolved murders. The camp's new owner and seven young counselors are readying the property for re-opening despite warnings of a "death curse" by local residents. The curse proves true on Friday the 13th as one by one each of the counselors is stalked by a violent killer. This film is widely acclaimed for its horrifying and creative murder sequences.

In this syndicated series with no resemblance to the Friday the 13th movies, two cousins Ryan and Micki discover that their Uncle Lewis Vendredi sold cursed antiques for the Devil. When the uncle tries to break the pact, he was banished to Hell. Now the cousins attempt recover the antiques, each with a supernatural power that lets the user get their fondest desire... for a price. Helping them is Jack Marshak, an antique collector who worked with Lewis and was unaware of his deal with the Devil. In the third season, Ryan is written out and replaced by Johnny Ventura, a street punk whose father is killed by an antique.

Film aficionados like to say that Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho REALLY jumpstarted the whole slasher genre, but for a movie with a whopping two kills and about 40 minutes of its running time actually dedicated to the suspense aspect, I don’t give it credit. Phenomenal movie, but let’s be honest. Friday the 13th put the nail in the coffin. You’ve heard the story, but if you don’t, I’m actually not going to tell you what happens or what the film is even about. Believe it or not, this 34 year old slasher film has some twists up its sleeve, and some glorious kills (okay, I said it’s a slasher movie, you should know that there’s a body count here). But just blood? What’s the fun in that? Well, ask Hollywood that. They’re forgetting that campy humor, and those obnoxious, but likable characters that make these little films fun to watch. I mean Kevin Bacon here is just fun to watch (and he has a nice 80’s haircut), and there’s a lunatic character that just entices a few giggles here and there. It’s like you’re on the camp with these kids. And for being a low-budget film, you really can’t tell. The woods is nicely-shot, the leaves are freshly green, and the water looks “crystal” clear (pun-intended). So put on your Camp Crystal badge, hike those shorts above your navel, and go off to Camp Crystal Lake!

I agree its a classic and a very good horror movie that inspired american horror films... but if you buy this movie expecting to see Jason voorhees kill with a machete and a hockey mask on then ur wrong. His mom is the one that does all thee killings. And jason doesnt get his mask until Part3... but overall great movie.

Although I agree that this is one of the best horror films ever made, and is a cult classic, I think you're all high off your a*ses if you don't think the new 2009 Friday the 13th was anything but great. Sean S. Cunningham, the original director of this 1980 cult classic, wanted the remake to be done, and was very excited and happy with it. It was a "rebooting" of the Jason story, in a more modern, realistic way. Although the old ones are great, I think the new one showed how ruthless and badass they truly wanted Jason to be from way back in 1981 when Part 2 came out. He's smarter, he doesn't f**k around, and best of all, he runs unlike the old ones where he somehow would catchup to the victims even though they were running and he was walking. It also brings great elements from the old ones (at least parts 1-4) into it and gives tribute to alot of the old movies such as the wheelchair in his underground tunnels tributing Part 2 when he killed the handicapped kid with his machete.
