Český Norman Robberson, jeho žena Helen a děti Kevin, Cindy a Billy jsou úplně normální rodina. Podle slov Helen možná ne právě nejlepší, ale určitě k tomu mají blízko. Vzájemně si pomáhají a každý má rád každého. I tak se ji však Norman bojí večer říct, že u nich jistou dobu budou bydlet dva policajti, kteří chtějí z jejich domu sledovat souseda Osborna, zločince a falšovatele, který si vedle nich pronajal dům. Ráno tedy vypukne hotová apokalypsa, když se mladý policajt Tony setká ve sprše s Helen a vzápětí se chce ukrýt v pokoji Cindy. Najít ráno v bytě nahého policajta je opravdu vzrušující. Asi tak jako naplno se vžít do úlohy špehounů, špiónů a zastánců spravedlnosti, kteří chtějí být s nepřekonatelnou horlivostí nápomocní při usvědčení zločince. Není divu, že Robbersonovi přivádějí detektiva Stonea až k šílenství...
