A true gem in Irish cinemaIt is so rare to come across a film that can render me speechless. The Butcher Boy was one of thoes films- Filled to the brim with complex emotions all ranging from love, compassion, fear, to rage. This story takes place in a small Irish town where nothing out of the usual takes place. Francie Brady is an imaginative young boy who loves to cause trouble with his best friend Joe. It becomes clear almost right away that Franices home life is not so wonderful. With an alcholic father (played wonderfully by Stephen Rea) and a manic depressive mother (Aishling Sullivan),he escapes into his childish imagination. This film is filled with Irelands best, directed by Neil Jordan and is a must see!.Score: 5/5
