Academy Award-winner Oliver Stone's ("Natural Born Killers," "Born on the Fourth of July") highly acclaimed and Academy Award-winning docudrama chronicles New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison's investigation into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy - controversially putting to the test some of the incredible details of the official "single assassin" and "magic bullet" explanations that have quietly plagued the nation for decades. Academy Award-winning superstar Kevin Costner ("Rumor Has It," "The Bodyguard") heads a tremendous all-star cast, with the real Garrison in an ironic cameo as future Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren, of the government's infamous Warren Commission. Leonard Maltin acclaims this dramatic tale as "absolutely riveting. . . superb. . . Oscar-winner for Robert Richardson's cinematography and Joe Hutshing and Pietro Scalia's phenomenal editing."
Follows the investigation into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy led by New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison.

History of U.S through the eyes of Oliver StoneWhen I think about this movie the first thing I remember is the bold and rich cinematography of Bob Richardson, truly in the top ten list of best shot films on the 90’s From the story point of view I think stone had to adapt the book which Garrison wrote; but who knows what happened to the poor president Kennedy maybe Garrison made the right assumptions out of the story and when you put yourselves in the situation it doesn’t seems that Oswald could have done the assassination all by himself....Score: 5/5

Concerning the theatrical version vs. the Director’s CutAt over three hours, the theatrical version of the film could hardly be called short. But it is better paced and more engaging then the longer, Director’s Cut, which adds nothing essential, and in the opinion of this viewer, runs out of steam. When the original version became unavailable on dvd (if indeed it ever existed), I made a point of buying a back-up copy of the videotape, which I still have, unopened. I was excited to see iTunes offer the original cut of the film. It simply plays better. A phenomenal film. The trial scene alone should be played in classrooms across the country..Score: 5/5
Do Not be Fooled! If you're a fan of Stone's work, obviously you should see this movie. However, be warned. It's not only an over-the-top, too long, poorly acted movie - but like most movies put out by Stone, it's also utterly one-sided and a piece of revisionist history. Not content with just one conspiracy theory, this movie explores all of them at once and does the audience a disservice by failing (perhaps purposefully) to clearly draw the line between what is known fact and absolute conjecture. The so called hero of the film was in reality a failure and a drunk, and got nowhere with his case against Mr. Clay. Most of things in this movie simply did not happen!!! How many more specials do CBS, Discovery, et al have to do to prove beyond doubt that it WAS in fact phsyically possible for a dissaffected, depressed failure of man such as Oswald to have been the actual assassin? Ask yourself if it is really fair for Stone to state through the completely ficitional Donlad Sutherland character that if someone stood to gain from JFK's assassination, then they MUST have done it? Ask yourself if it is reasonable to believe that such a vast conspiracy existed regarding JFK's assassination - yet despite the potential for selling their story for millions of dollars, from the 1960's to this day, not a one of those people who was involved has come forward? Ask yourself it is more reasonable to believe in Stone's paranoid conjecturing, or that on his second assassination attempt of a public figure (look it up) a deeply disturbed individual man did the sort of thing we expect an insane person to do?.Score: 1/5

To THE LOC-NAROne of the reviews on here stated that this film is nothing but a lie and further stated that a construction worker had given the description of Oswald to the police right after the assassination. That is true. His name was Howard Brennan but when Brennan was taken to the Police Headquarters after Oswald had been arrested, he could not pick out Oswald out of the police lineup yet he had the closest vantage point to the "Snipers Nest" and saw a large percentage of the man's body in the window. The review also stated that the shot was easily taken from the TSBD. How can it be easy when the scope was out of line and the trigger was defective. Also, add the fact that the bolt had rusted through and you'll know that it wasn't too easy for one man to have done it all..Score: 5/5
One of the greatest movies ever made. This is a fantastic piece of historical fiction. If you hear Stone talk about the film, he is wholeheartedly into the conspiracy theories and did extensive research on such for the film. The way Stone presents the movie as a piece of evidence for the American public makes the movie even more dramatic. Though the evidence has made clear that Oswald was the killer, Stone argues otherwise, and even though his movie is another footnote within the JFK conspiracy literature, it is not a footnote among other dramatic films. This conspiracy culture has been more about fear of "the government" and a sense of loss for a beloved president than actual evidence throughout its history, but I don't think we can simply cast Stone aside as a conspiracy theorist, because he is also an artist and that comes out brilliantly in this film. This is one of my favorite movies. The casting, directing, detail, undertones of homosexual eroticism, and writing make this film a blast to watch and think about. I particularly loved Gary Oldman and Donald Sutherland in this. At least rent this because it is a classic piece of cinema..Score: 5/5
