What was Mark Whitacre thinking? A rising star at agri-industry giant Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Whitacre (Matt Damon) suddenly turns whistleblower. Even as he exposes his company's multi-national price-fixing conspiracy to the FBI, Whitacre envisions himself being hailed as a hero of the common man and handed a promotion. But before all that can happen, the FBI needs evidence, so Whitacre eagerly agrees to wear a wire and carry a hidden tape recorder in his briefcase, imagining himself as a kind of de facto secret agent. Unfortunately for the FBI, their lead witness hasn't been quite so forthcoming about helping himself to the corporate coffers. Whitacre's ever-changing account frustrates the agents (Scott Bakula and Joel McHale) and threatens the case against ADM as it becomes almost impossible to decipher what is real and what is the product of Whitacre's active imagination.
Based on a tattle-tale.. A rising star at agri-industry giant Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Mark Whitacre suddenly turns whistleblower. Even as he exposes his company’s multi-national price-fixing conspiracy to the FBI, Whitacre envisions himself being hailed as a hero of the common man and handed a promotion.. The Informant! Wiki
Brilliant I thought this movie was really well done, not sure what all the negative reviews are about. The movie is uniquely funny, the writing and directing are top notch, the acting is great overall and Matt Damon did a superb job playing the main character. I though this movie was quite unique and brilliant.
I liked it! It’s a shame this movie didn’t do so well because I enjoyed it. I thought it was funny (not in the Hangover, stupid kind of way) and Damon did an excellent performance. I think you do have to be in the right mood for this film and it’s a little slow at times, but still worth watching.
The Informant This movie was meant for those who've been in the world for awhile and posses the maturity to receive Matt Damon's portrayal of Mark Whitacre who represents a true life story of a mater embezzler who's crime (which he pays for) benefits the country as a whole. Doubtful anyone could have pulled it off as Matt Damon does. Fun and Entertaining. Superb.
Trailer lies Look, the movie has funny moments, but this is not at all a comedy. *spoilers* this is about a chronic liar who digs himself into a hole with his lies. It's very depressing to see this guy be sick and not even know it. Had the movie been anything like the trailer, I would have enjoyed it a lot more
Hi, how are you?
Simply, way too slow. Sooooooooooo Slooooooooooooowwwwwww!!!!!! I really wanted to like this movie, Jeepers!
Not worth renting A sometimes-funny, sometimes-sad movie. Odd subject matter for a movie. I'd say skip it and rent something else.
boring the beginning was so bad i couldn't through half of it and i wouldn't wish the wasted time on anyone
Are you kidding me ? I can honestly say this was a waste of my $3.99 and time. I love movies because it gives me a chance to get away from reality for a couple of hours but in this case reality is actually better.
Need a high i.q. and good sense of humor Imbeciles wont appreciate the comedic ironies that abound in this movie, but I promise if you are a fan of comedy and Matt Damon, this movie is terrific.
More interesting and intelligent than an important You've seen whistleblowers in corporate America stories before like THE INSIDER, but you haven't quite seen THIS story. It's based on real events, and all I'll say is that our 'hero' isn't necessarily the hero we want or need him to be. For this reason, the film is as frustrating as it is fascinating. If a fan of Matt and Soderbergh, you'll be okay with this movie as an evening's diversion. This film is otherwise too small and self-indulgent to have ever been a theatrical release. Just a fun little head scratcher.
Wosrt Movie I Worst waste of a movie ticket I've ever bought! This is the one movie I have ever walked out before the credits started roling. I could't take it any more, to start off the humour was absolutly HORRIBLE. It was the most dry, unhumourous and boring movie a movie could be. I was a Matt Damon fan untill I had to witness this movie, now my standards for him has dropped to the floor. In short if you are thinking of buying or even renting this movie STOP and you can save your money right now.
stopped watching It may have been because I was tired but it didnt support its weight. I fell asleep watching the movie and didn't bother watching it again to see what I missed. The actors tried but a bad script can't me fixed.
Just plain bad I did get a couple of laughs from it, but it is just a poorly made film overall. Sooooo boring. Horrible writing, even worse was Soderberg' directing. I wish I could do an "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" for the wasted time I spent watching this movie.
Dissaponted until the end The actor is great but the movie is borning until the end
Awesome movie If you don't have a mind of your own then listen to the masses, you won't get this movie.
Just plain. I watched this movie to waste time, so I really wasn't expecting much. Nor should you.
Informing You to rent something else
The Informant The story was strange considering it's true, but and it wasn't laugh-out-loud funny. I saw it in two parts. Fell asleep the first time and then finished it off the next day. Overall, this movie was OK. It certainly wasn't in the league with any other movie Matt Damon has ever done, except maybe "Stuck on You" with Greg Kinnear. Rent this if you're bored and you've seen all the other good movies on Itunes.
Tries but fails... To be dark comedy and ends up being a dry let down. Matt tries his best but fails to pull off such nasty script and confused direction.
The Informant Fundamentally interesting and funny story that was turned into a VERY boring movie. We have come to expect great movies with Matt Damon and bought this one on that premise. It got boring in the first 15 minutes and generally got worse right to the end.
Really? I thought this was a very well made movie. One of the best I've seen in a while. People just don't get good humor these days.
I actually fell asleep at one stage. The pace of this movie is so slow & it's very drawn out. Very disappointing. This director has some good movies under his belt, but he misfired with this one.
Now there is an hour and 48 minutes I will never get back, this was a truly terrible movie.
This was the most boring and possibly the worst Matt Damon film I've ever seen. I love his work, and this was extremely disappointing. I wouldn't bother
I thought the movie was okay I guess , it was a bit boring on some places , and I ended up falling asleep , Good movie , I just like Matt Damon in better action movies :)
I found this movie to be a bit boring. I mean the acting was good, and the story was ok, but it just lacked something. The start was good, as was the middle, but the resolution was probably a little lack lustre. If you like satires of business ethics etc like this movie, I would recommend- Capitalism: A Love Story.
Not bad, but Matt Damon Belongs in thrillers like the Bourne Ultimatum, not in crummy comedy movies.
Great movie, worth the watch
I watched the whole thing waiting for the good bit the big twist the massive thriller but the whole movie turned out rubbish if there was a 0 stars I would
Matt Damon at his best. Cracker of a film
This movie was very long winded and you really have to sit through the whole thing to catch the twist at the end. It's a very clever movie, but due to being so long and at points slow and a little tough to understand, most people will lose interest with about 30-60 minutes to finish. It's unfortunate that a lot of the people who have previously reviewed the movie didn't get far enough to know what happened in the end. This movie takes time and patience...if you stick with it, you may find you quite like it...you may also find it a little too dry and not enjoy the experience.
