Directed by Ridley Scott, the original sci-fi classic follows Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) investigating a suspected SOS on a remote planet and makes a terrifying discovery.

During its return to the earth, commercial spaceship Nostromo intercepts a distress signal from a distant planet. When a three-member team of the crew discovers a chamber containing thousands of eggs on the planet, a creature inside one of the eggs attacks an explorer. The entire crew is unaware of the impending nightmare set to descend upon them when the alien parasite planted inside its unfortunate host is birthed.

Sci-fi Meets HitchcockI was around 13 years when Alien first came out and it has ruined me for suspense/horror films ever since. This movie does not have to use gore to scare you, instead, Ridley Scott uses the tried and true methods of Hitchcock to lure you in. This movie is not pleasant, it's not nice and it's not gory in the newer sense of the word, however, if you just go along for the ride and ignore the fact that it's over 30 years old, it will scare the pants off you. The Best Sci-Fi Horror Film of All TimeSaw it when it came out and I couldn't sleep for two weeks. This film could be driven on the performances alone, but the visuals and production push it over the top. Sigourney Weaver turns in a perfect performance, but she is nearly upstaged by every other cast member. Many outstanding scenes and performances. Perfectly suspensefulAlien would have been scarier if I didn't know about the iconic scene. For 1979 the special effects were great. Alien is a great experience to watch and the scenery was extraordinary too. Aliens is great too. Personally I liked it better because I'm a big fan if action movies.
