From a 50 year veteran - this is superbHaving been a casual watcher of monster movies for half a century, I rate this film as being one of the best, beyond question (once they excised the Shakespeare scene, that is). It has so many great things going for it. This is not just the best wolfman film, but among the best in the genre. What puts it over the goal line in a very big way is Hopkins portrayal, which is truly inspired. The deadness, the self-fascination, the hunger, and the succumbing to the complete evil of it - there is no other actor alive or dead who could have done it better, wtihout question.
It has been more than a decade since this film was released and every couple of years I have watched it again. This is a very good film.
And by the way, the RT ratings reflect nothing other than the extreme limitations of the reviewers. The actual customer reviews on iTunes are far more accurate..Furutan1Score: 5/5
Atistic classicEven though many write how the movie bored them, they should think differently. In this classic English folklore, there are many opinions as to what things turn out to be. Artistically I love this remake, not many can pull off a classic; some like the renewed Nightmare on Elm Street seemed to be a bit overrated in my book. WOLFIE HAS DADDY ISSUES...I was expecting more from a movie with cast members including Anthony Hopkins and Benicio Del Torro. This movie is only good for making you sleepy: Watching it was like reading the dictionary. The gore seemed to be an attempt to fill up the void left from the poorly written script and empty characters. I didn't feel anything for the characters or their struggles. There are no surprises or any type of entertainment derived from this idiotic remake. Spend your money on better choices here on iTunes..Winter810Score: 1/5
A bloody good time!I find it unfortunate that this movie was very much unliked just because it wasn't perfect. Though I did like this movie a lot, it had some flaws. Like a lot of the editing was kinda choppy, some of the jump scenes were a bit predictable, Del Toro's accent wasn't quite there, there could've been at least one more scene with old wolfie tearing up everyone, but I think the studio that was so scared of making another box-office bomb was to blame for that (But we know that all that re-re-re-reediting and re-re-re-recutting done on this film didn't help either. Haha). It's quite a shame such good movies like this bomb and such terrible movies like My Bloody Valentine are successful. Now I'm not sure if the extended/unrated version has more tearing and is less choppy, despite its flaws the film had, I still found the original version quite enjoyable..That Other ReviewerScore: 4/5
