Acclaimed filmmaker Zack Snyder makes his animation debut with "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," based on the beloved books by Kathryn Lasky. The film follows Soren, a young owl enthralled by his father's epic stories of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole, a mythic band of winged warriors who had fought a great battle to save all of owlkind from the evil Pure Ones. While Soren dreams of someday joining his heroes, his older brother, Kludd, scoffs at the notion, and yearns to hunt, fly and steal his father's favor from his younger sibling. But Kludd's jealousy has terrible consequences-causing both owlets to fall from their treetop home and right into the talons of the Pure Ones. Now it is up to Soren to make a daring escape with the help of other brave young owls. Together they soar across the sea and through the mist to find the Great Tree, home of the legendary Guardians of Ga'Hoole-Soren's only hope of defeating the Pure Ones and saving the owl kingdoms.

When a young owl is abducted by an evil Owl army, he must escape with new-found friends and seek the legendary Guardians to stop the menace.

Pretty Decent adaptation of the first three novels in the Guardians of Ga'Hoole seriesI saw this movie in the theaters and thought it was pretty decent. I enjoyed the fact that it was on the darker side of a children's movie, with some pretty cool and kind of violent fight sequences. Surprising to see for a kid's movie... I did not realize that this was based on a book series, so I picked up the first book on a whim and just wow. I feel the movie adaptation really toned down the violence and nastiness that the books entail. The books (which are for children mind you!!) are full of family betrayal, murder, violence, brainwashing, wars, wings being ripped off, family members being eaten by other owls, decapitations, throat slittings, torture, etc. etc., So basically, the books are incredible and has become one of my favorite fantasy book series. If you were intrigued by the movie even a bit (which is a very simplified adaptation of books 1-3ish), I highly recommend you pick up the book series. The writing is strong, the characters are far more likable in the books, and the story is complicated and far more interesting than what is presented in this movie. Currently I'm on book 7 out of 15 and the storyline keeps getting better and better. The author, Kathryn Lasky, was involved in the movie's production, so it probably explains why the movie is decent, but the book series is too complicated to shove into one children's movie, and the screenwriter had to condense the storyline and characters into something more generic and that sort of hurts this adaptation. Movie, ok, books, awesome. Moral of the story. Read the books..MicroDragon85Score: 3/5

Great tale of adventure for ages 8-12.This was an absolutely beautiful film with amazing animation and a spectacular plot. It teaches great lessons and tells tales of secrets and legends. I would recommend this for a family movie night or a car trip..Billy boom boomScore: 4/5

BOOKS ARE ALWAYS BETER!!!!!!!!It's only based on the first three books not all 15 and the pure one weren't st.Aggies😡!!!!!!! And the pure ones came in the in the end of the last book and Ezylryb ( aka Lyze of Kiel) vowed never to fight again!!!!!!! And Nyra and Metal Beak didn't Run St.Aggies it was skench and Spoorn and they didn't know the power of flecks but I guess it was ok.PLEASE MAKE MORE TO FINISH THE ENTIRE SERIES!!!!!.Unhappy viewer01Score: 4/5
