Paul Newman and Robert Redford set the standard for the buddy film with this western classic. Sundance (Redford) is a mighty quick draw, and his partner Butch (Newman) is a gifted get-rich-quick schemer. With the law on their trail, the two pack their guns, and, along with Sundance's girlfriend (Katharine Ross), head for Bolivia, away from the men trying to bring them to justice – and death.

In late 1890s Wyoming, Butch Cassidy is the affable, clever and talkative leader of the outlaw Hole in the Wall Gang. His closest companion is the laconic dead-shot Sundance Kid. As the west rapidly becomes civilized, the law finally catches up to Butch, Sundance and their gang. Chased doggedly by a special posse, the two decide to make their way to South America in hopes of evading their pursuers once and for all. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation in 1998.

The Dynamic DuoIt has been said billions of times, but it can never be over stated how marvellous and charismatic the chemistry Paul Newman and Robert Redford have is. Every moment they are on screen and interact with one another is acting perfection and makes the entire movie. The cinematography at points is technically brilliant, the dialogue is beyond words; it can't be explained any better because it was written perfectly. The openning scene introducing us to Sundance is hands down one of the greatest movie moments of all time and tells us exactly who he is, and the same goes for Butch with his line "That's but a small price you have to pay for beauty." A fantastic classicThis movie is one of the greatest movies that has been made. Even if you aren't a movie buff and don't usually watch older films, you will definitely enjoy this. The chemistry created between Paul Newman and Robert Redford and the way they sell their characters is top notch, and George Roy Hill uses it to his advantage to create a cinematic masterpiece. Odd Film With Pacing IssuesStrange film as the beginning was extremely odd and seemed like a comedy. This created a very unusual pacing and didn't know what to expect. After the film settled into a western, the rest of the movie is fantastic with amazing acting.
