"The Rite" is a supernatural thriller that uncovers the Devil's reach to even one of the holiest places on Earth. Inspired by true events, the film follows seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), who is sent to study exorcism at the Vatican in spite of his own doubts about the controversial practice and even his own faith. Wearing his deep skepticism like armor, Michael challenges his superiors to look to psychiatry, rather than demons, in treating the possessed. Only when he's sent to apprentice with the unorthodox Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins)--a legendary priest who has performed thousands of exorcisms--does Michael's armor begin to fall. As he is drawn into a troubling case that seems to transcend even Father Lucas's skill, he begins to glimpse a phenomenon science can't explain or control...and an evil so violent and terrifying that it forces him to question everything he believes.

StunningIf you love Sir Anthony Hopkins, he goes beyond greatness. His roles have been dark, deliberate and diabolical and often subdude in narrative. He makes this role so very great by been so much more intense. I admire the producers of this movie for even trying this very controversial and complex such which is why many may not like it. However, it is beautiful and stunning throughout..Score: 5/5

Critics were wrong on this one...I read bad reviews for this movie, but I saw the preview and wanted to watch it anyway (mainly because Anthony Hopkins is freaking awesome). I don't know why the critics blasted this movie so harshly, I really enjoyed it and it definitely had the creep factor that I enjoy so much. Anthony Hopkins rocked the house as usual, of course. Great Movie, makes you thinkDefinitely a awesome movie. Makes you realize that we all doubt, even priests are only human too and are subjected to the same weaknesses and temptations others out of the religious realm face. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it's not there. That's what satan wants us all to believe... that he doesn't exist...so we can all keep traveling down destructive paths. Scary Movie Fails To ThrillDecent acting and interesting ideas do not a good movie make. I'm not saying The Rite is bad, because the performances of Anthony Hopkins and Colin O'Donoghue are too good for the movie to fail. Plus I defy any genre fan to not like a story about exorcisms. But we've seen a lot of this stuff before and little actually happens until the third act. There are some minor scares thanks to Hopkins's performance and some nifty visuals, but the film is too long and kinda dull. A Bad for me on The Rite..Score: 3/5

ANTHONY HOPKINS!!Anthony Hopkins did yet ANOTHER amazing film with The Rite. It's creepy, yet alluring, and keeps you constantly thinking of what's going to happen next. I honestly don't know why critics disliked it. 19% fresh, really? C'mon. Give the guy a break. He did amazing. And so did Colin O'donaghue. I was more than satisfied with the movie. I don't recommend listening to the rotten tomatoes. I recommend you watch this movie and prepared for an amazing plot and story. Anthony Hopkins ftw..Score: 5/5

Meh. Not Bad, Not Great.I had to watch this movie in two parts because the first half had me falling asleep. While I am a HUGE Anthony Hopkins fan, this movie was a bit slow to start and was a wee bit on the boring side. The last 30-35 minutes of the movie are all right and I enjoyed seeing how the story came together but the movie as a whole is a bit meh. I LOVE movies based around the supernatural and exorcisms, etc. but this one just left me wanting more. Again, not bad but not great..Score: 3/5
