WAY ahead of its timeBest not to read too much about this serious, humorless film before seeing it...as it has some disturbing twists. I will say the final message is shockingly relevant in the age of Trump...and terrifying, blind worship of wealthy businessmen and leaders. As an added bonus...it's one of the most gorgeously photographed B&W films of the 1940s, which is really saying something..Score: 4/5

Socialists would worship Forrest today!Many comrades and anti-Trumpers find the relationship to Fascism a view into our current politcal seen. Nothing could be furhter from the truth. Left is caught up in the very movement espoused by Forrest. Their lies and deceit is to used to control and utlimately make slaves of those willing to subjegate themselves. The story builds slowly but then makes many turns and twists and ends with a different outcome than I expected. Very intelligent, interesting drama with Tracy and Hepburn doing their very best..Score: 4/5
Jingoism as denouementA slow Noirish look at Fascism post WW II and the possibility of it arising in this country under the guise of charismatic war heroes (Eisenhower?) The subtext is interesting, but the story unfolds slowly and the acting is stolid by both Hepburn and Tracy. Some good character acting in the part of the local cab driver and two of Tracy's fellow journalists, but overall this is a slow developing, low grade, semi depressing movie..Score: 2/5
