“Gut-bustingly funny. Bridesmaids gets an A!!!” (Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly) From the producer of Superbad, Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin comes the breakout comedy critics are calling “brazenly hysterical!” (Alynda Wheat, People) Thirty-something Annie (Kristen Wiig) has hit a rough patch but finds her life turned completely upside down when she takes on the Maid of Honor role in her best friend Lillian’s (Maya Rudolph) wedding. In way over her head but determined to succeed, Annie leads a hilarious hodgepodge of bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to the big event.
Save the date. Annie's life is a mess. But when she finds out her lifetime best friend is engaged, she simply must serve as Lillian's maid of honor. Though lovelorn and broke, Annie bluffs her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals. With one chance to get it perfect, she’ll show Lillian and her bridesmaids just how far you’ll go for someone you love.. Bridesmaids Wiki
I died laughing at the food poisoning scene so hard!! Go check it out if you haven't seen Bridesmaids! Kristen Wiig is most notably my favorite actress known for this and the Despicable Me trilogy!
I loved it!!:)
There are some funny moments in this film. But the overriding tone is somber and sobering. Wiig plays a character with a “why me” attitude that steers her from ditch to pothole and back again, and, as the film goes on, it becomes tougher and less fun to spend time following a narrative focused on her self-defeating attitude. But the film ends with some optimism (but no promises for Wiig’s character’s future) and there are enough laughs along the way to make it worth a rental. Just don’t expect end-to-end fun. It’s not really that kind of movie (and its not meant to be).
This is one of my favorite Movies.
One of the best comedies of all times…hands down!
If iTunes had a policy of refunding money on movies that were this bad, they'd have long ago dropped it from their offerings. Don't waste your time or money. It just isn't funny!
I read these glowing reviews, and I'm honestly confused. I rented this movie hoping for a fun comedy. That is not what I got. The main character is depressing and tragic, which doesn't inspire a lot of yucks. Every single aspect of her life is written to be as pitiful and awful as possible. I think I was supposed to laugh at these sequences, but I find it hard to laugh at someone who's life is this completely bereft of joy. The supporting cast feels like it was written to be as loathsome as possible. This isn't a chick flick. This isn't a comedy. This is a movie about awful people being awful to each other, and a thoroughly depressed main character who spends most of her time publicly embarrassing herself. Scenes that were obviously supposed to be funny only managed to make me cringe. The dialogue was painful, the writing was terrible, and after forty minutes of watching in baffled silence (without a hint of laughter), I turned the movie off. I did go back and finish watching it later, but that was more out of a sense of obligation than out of any real desire. And the ending did not make up for the train wreck that preceded it.
Melissa mccarthy made that movie the rest mehhhhh
fantastic movie, but this file was corrupted for me, and it did not download. do the unrated one instead of the normal one!
Kristen Wiig, I have one request: SIGN ON FOR BRIDESMAIDS 2!! She is my 3rd fav SNL cast member, and is funnier than heck
Soooooo funny , I died:)
Great :) this was awesome!!
Yes, the trailer seemed promising, but no, what an awful movie!!! I switched it off after the group vomiting and diarrhea scene. You really do not need to watch this. Should get no stars!
I expected Las Vegas, drunken fumblings, and over the top comedy. It's more the story of a sad and self-destructive (not very likable) woman. There were some okay laughs, but I was definitely not in stitches. Don't go in with high expectations; it's a mediocre, raunchy, chick flick.
Terrible movies. If this is comedy it's bad comedy,.Lots of cliches, boring story line and certainly not worth the effort to see it in the theatre or for that matter using your remote to press play. If there were 1/2 stars that what I would rate it at. Here's a better idea, the studio should pay us to watch it .
The way the movie is advertised is compared to the movie Hangover. So I figured it had to be above average in the humour department. However it turned out to be like any another Hollywood romantic comedy - just average. It did not meet my expectations and was disappointing. In addition, for some reason with the rental through itunes their was a sound delay between audio and video which was annoying.
This movie had a few laughs but not enough to class it as a comedy. Please!! Don't waste your money or time.
Saw this in the theatre and walked out on the last half hour....just couldn't take it anymore! Aside from a few funny moments....and I STRESS "few".....too many long pauses with crappy music which is supposed to stress how miserable the lead character is. She's so pathetic that you just wish she'd pull agin out, shoot herself and end the movie....don't see what all the hype was about.
I'm shocked by the 90% rating of this movie by Rotten Tomatoes. It was very predictable and full of clichés. In terms of laughs, I guess it was funny if you like really obvious and unsubtle humour. This movie feels at least 20 years old. I wish we have gone past all these stereotypes in terms of the stigma of being a single woman. I know some things were probably true to life in terms of petty jealousies between women, but these were portrayed in such a heavy handed manner that it was embarrassing to watch. Maybe the attraction to this movie is its lack of intellectual rigour. Perhaps people are attracted to movies where thinking isn't a prerequisite. The acting was ok but the writing was so poor. I am definitely not going to trust Rotten Tomatoes ratings again.
This movie is terrible. I even had to turn it off! I don't mind some potty humor but women in their 40's crapping in their pants and in a sink...this is not funny.
The highlight of this film were the few/brief scenes of the brother and sister trio played by Rebel Wilson and Matt Lucas. The other characters that were supposed to be comical we're over the top and too numerous to be believable. Although the plot had potential I rate this film as average. The overall acting performance was mediocre and the laughs were few and far between. 2 stars.
its the best movie i've ever seen
Great movie. I watched it twice and I recommend for all! I think people who didn't like it have absolutely no sense of humour... This movie is a keeper!
After hearing rave reviews for this film, and all the people calling it the 'female version of The Hangover', I had high hopes for this movie. While there were a few laughs, I certainly wouldn't watch it again and don't count it as a memorable experience. I found the film to be somewhat predictable… not a terrible movie, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.
You'll be disappointed. Half wits.
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I swear I could watch this movie over and over and it would still be just as funny!
Ellie Kemper and Melissa McCarthy steal the show. Very crude in parts but much funnier than I expected. Worth a watch.
Such a funny movie, really worth watching and probably buying. Funniest I've seen for ages
This film is great to see with your friends and there are parts that will make you laugh. However, it's not a film that will make you cry with laughter and there are parts of the film where you are left waiting for something to happen. Overall, it is a good comedy with a great cast.
It ain't no comedy - sure, there are a few light hearted moments, but they can't even follow these through sucessfully. It's more a depressing commentary about a late-30 something chick hiting rock bottom. If you were expecting a chick version of The Hangover, get ready to be very disappointed.
Enjoyed the light hearted comedy. Some true fact in it as well. Who hasn't experienced dellie bellie after eating something harsh. That was funny. A moment at the end of this movie moved me to tears, I lost my best friend to cancer a year a go and what I miss most is that look you only share with that wonderful friend of a life time. Good girls movie that you could share with your special guy.
I haven't laughed this much throughout a whole film for years. Great cast, clever writing and good length. Not for prudes though :)
Tried to be like a man's funny movie and it did not work.
Didn't really enjoy this movie, and should have probably never bothered watching it given the offensive rating. Average plot, characters a sad indictment on the state of some friendships.
Really funny! A must see :)
really enjoyed this movie was funny as!
I thought this was going to be a funny movie to watch. But I found it very slow at the begining and then slowly started to laugh then it died out again. Will NOT be buying this movie.
i watched this with my gf who is chick flick crazy and she and i both agree it was horrible stupid plot and rather depressing at times
I remember walking into the movie theatre with my wife when this movie came out. I hadn't seen any trailers, so I had dismissed it as simply another chick-flick. And so as I walked into the movie theatre I had a frown planted on my face as I contemplated the next 1.5 hours of sheer feminine flack about to unfurl on the silver screen. All around me were similar frowns on various males of the species. But I couldn't have been more wrong! The movie was incredibly funny, with most its situational humour stemming from socially uncomfortable and awkward situations that most people can relate to in some way. Each of the characters are well formed and realistic, the pacing was excellent, acting confident… Over all, an excellent movie from the SNL gals.
