Not content with his job as a bouncer, Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott) dreams of a more rewarding job and gaining his parents’ respect. When a chance encounter with an on-ice thug leads to a fistfight that Doug easily wins, the onlooking coach sees Doug’s potential, in spite of his lack of any hockey playing ability. Joining the team and with the encouragement of his best friend (Jay Baruchel), Doug quickly becomes a rising star. Soon he’ll have the opportunity to face off against the infamous league thug, Ross Rhea (Liev Schreiber), perhaps finally land a girlfriend, and stick to a job he enjoys. Now all he needs is to learn how to skate.
Goon Film Synopsis
Doug Glatt, a slacker who discovers he has a talent for brawling, is approached by a minor league hockey coach and invited to join the team as the "muscle." Despite the fact that Glatt can't skate, his best friend, Pat, convinces him to give it a shot, and Glatt becomes a hero to the team and their fans, until the league's reigning goon becomes threatened by Glatt's success and decides to even the score.

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda......been a five star movie. It is funny and a good screenplay. The actors do their job. Better directing needed. It is like a college freshman got a budget and some good acting and script and then played rookie film maker. This is not a documentary, however, it just was a little too cheezy at times and I am not talking about the comedy. The comic relief is great, the character exposition is done well. There were some scenes that should have been cut and some that could have been a little more deep. This could have been a romantic, feel good, sports, and comedy movie all rolled into one being one of the all time great movies ever yet it is just a typical Friday night at the theater movie, which is okay too.
