The game is afoot once more! Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law reprise their roles as Holmes and Watson in the supersleuth sequel to the mystery megahit that minted over a half billion dollars worldwide. While vying with Watson's soon-to-be wife for the Doctor's time and attention, the detective extraordinaire matches wits with his arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty (Mad Men's Jared Harris), a criminal genius who's conspiring to make a fortune by manufacturing the next generation of wartime weaponry that the world's great powers will be forced to use against one another... once Moriarty succeeds in provoking World War I, of course. Joining the dynamic duo on their adventure is a feisty gypsy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Noomi Rapace) and Sherlock's craftier but crazier older brother Mycroft (Stephen Fry).

There is a new criminal mastermind at large (Professor Moriarty) and not only is he Holmes’ intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil and lack of conscience may give him an advantage over the detective.

Less than it promises, but good fun"The Final Problem" is a difficult story to communicate on screen, proved by boring versions throughout network history such as the one in the 80s TV series, so the director of the explosive and ace predecessor to this film decided to revamp it and make the story bigger. When it comes to story, this film does a very good job. The idea of Moriarty trying to cause The Great War is very accurate to his character and is much superior to what certain other versions of the story have him doing, like robbing banks. (that's too easy). The actor who plays Moriarty is excellent, menacing and very devious, he steals the show whenever on screen. Robert and Jude return as the perfect movie incarnations of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, and their chemistry is only rivaled by Benedict and Martin in the TV show. And the beginning of the movie has an exceptional tale about Irene Adler. Now, there are problems with this movie. As stunning and beautiful as the slow motion visual effects are for fighting and action sequences, they are completely over the top and do not suit the consulting detective one bit, even more problematic than in the first. If not for that, this movie could have been a classic but instead came off as Hollywood hogwash on drugs. However, the final moments save everything. The final fight between Sherlock and Moriarty is better than any other version I've ever seen and the narration by Jude Law is exactly how I'd expect John Watson to speak the words of Sir Arthur Conan Doyal. This film has many problems with its desperate need to keep everyone on the edge of their seats but it can be redeemed by the way it gives perfect closure to the story of Detective Sherlock Holmes..JacobKragoffScore: 3/5

Quite a brain teaserI only dislike the obvious similarities between Holmes and Howard Stark. It did drag on a bit and having to see the final fight from both side predicting the moves only made the scene dull when it should have been more like the dramatic ending to the first movie. I hoped it would outshine its predecessor, but disappointingly did not come close. Thank you Jude Law for keeping the humor alive..Ornery BearScore: 4/5

AwesomeMy step-dad owns both, when I first was gonna watch it, i thought it would be dumb and boring. But I was young, but after realizing Robert Downey Jr. Was in it, my hopes went up, then after watching it I had a huge smile on my face and ever since I've been watching these movies. Cannot get much betterThis movie has it all as a sequel to the original plus more. It is not very often that a sequel out performs the first movie but Sherlock Holms: A game of Shadows pulls it off with style and grace. WowRent this movie only if you have a lot of time on your hands. You'll have to watch it a second time just to catch all the many sneaky clues left here or there. Anyone who read the original Sherlock Holmes stories will know what I mean. You can't see the whole movie in one playthrough. What I'm saying is it's an awesome movie.
