The Darkest Hour is a tense apocalyptic thriller centering on the fight for survival waged by five youths who find themselves stranded in Moscow during an alien invasion. As the invisible extraterrestrials absorb all of Earth's energy and life forms, finding a means of escaping the unstoppable attackers becomes a seemingly impossible task.

In Moscow, five young people lead the charge against an alien race which has attacked Earth via our power supply.

Thought is was good.I didn't watch it in the theaters I just watched it on my computer. It was awesome. I have never written a review but saw so many negative ones I thought I would give it a good one. Someone explain what all these other movies have to do with this one? Comparing? This is no Rotten TomatoUnlike the Rotten Tomatoes review of this film, I actually enjoyed it. Was it a 5 star movie? No. Was it worth the rental? Absolutley! Maximin Overdrive ??Not the worst film that I have even seen, Granted the actors were bad. I did like the Muscovites though. Best part was they killed off the most annoying characters in the first half of the film. Bottom line: I felt like it was a remake of Maximin Overdrive with a bigger special effects budget. because they sure did not spend it on getting actors..MajorMatt3Score: 2/5

Yes, deeply flawed but...I immediately recognized the aspects of this movie that invited so much disdain from the critics and ire from all the haters. I WAS able to look past it's many shortcomings and despite the chasm separating it from what could be deemed a "good" movie I still enjoyed it. I found moments of it truly suspenseful and it was not ENTIRELY predictable. I was pleasantly surprised a couple of times. The coolest part though that affected me in an understated way was the Russian perspective (sort of, main characters were all american). I appreciate a sci-fi story when it's told without a "tongue-in-cheek", "wink-wink" sort of apologetic way some movies come-off as though they're too embarrassed to take themselves seriously. I would have enjoyed Green Lantern so much more had it taken itself more seriously and it's leading man played it straight. That's how the comics were written and I bristle at Hollywood when they can't man-up and put out a serious piece. I guess when you laugh at yourself than it stings less when others laugh at you. I praise the serious approach to this movie and hope the flaws and poor reception doesn't fuel Hollywood's need to shield itself with silly humor covering serious stories. I enjoyed Skyline even more so because it had fewer fatal flaws and was quite surprised and intrigued by it's ending. It too took itself seriously and again I appreciate the balls it takes. In many ways I respect the commitment both Darkest Hour and Skyline showed in service to the art of sci-fi. Respect I'm unable to dole out to The Avengers..Free2slideScore: 3/5

Good movieOver all a very good movie. Keeps you interested the whole time and starts the action right away. Many unexpected plot twists. I don't know what people are talking about when they say the acting is bad. It's not amazing but it's not bad. The actors do a great job of playing their part and showing important traits of their character. The ending leaves something to be desired but it definitely doesn't ruin the whole movie. All in all it's definitely worth the price to rent.Movielover9876Score: 4/5
