Not just a story of obsession..Beauty (Skooheid) is a story not only of obsession but the need for possession. While some may argue about the chilling climax, how else to illustrate how far that need can go. Director Hermanus' use of long shots and lingering, even awkward moments in each scene brings you intimately into the world of Francois. Affecting and multi-layered, this is a film to be experienced..Score: 4/5
WKBI watched this movie several years ago. The acting was very well done, but it is without a doubt one of the most brutal and disturbing films I have ever seen. Hence, the 2-star rating. As a teacher, I witnessed some of the darker sides of people - and what damage they could do to youth, but this one got to me. A grim testament to the primative animal that lurkes in us all.....Score: 2/5
