When 29-year-old Lola (Gerwig) is dumped by her fiancé Luke (Joel Kinnaman) just three weeks before the wedding, she embarks on an emotional, year-long adventure of self-discovery filled with love, loss, hilarity and heartache. Guided (and often misguided) by the well-meaning advice of her close friends and eccentric parents, Lola's chaotic journey en route to the big 3-0 proves that a single tumultuous year can yield the lessons of a lifetime.
Just three weeks before her wedding, Lola (Greta Gerwig) finds herself suddenly without a partner when her longtime fiance, Luke (Joel Kinnaman), dumps her. With her 30th birthday looming and being forced to re-enter the New York City dating scene, she feels adrift in a cold world. She leans on her friends (Zoe Lister-Jones, Hamish Linklater) for support but, after a series of romantic humiliations, professional blunders and boozy antics, Lola realizes that she alone is in charge of her fate.

Seriously? This movie had so much potential, but came up very short. It was extremely boring and I didn't laugh once. Actually, I found it depressing. Definitely not reccomended..Score: 1/5

Funny, sad, relatableFirst, any movie that has a reference to Jessie Spano's caffeine freak out on Saved by the Bell, gets a thumbs up from me! But seriously, I am hard to please when it comes to movies, but Lola Versus was fantastic. So fantastic that I watched it twice, which is a rarity for me as I have a hard time sitting through a movie just once. Greta Gerwig (Lola) does a nice job as the lead and creates a very real, confused, and likable character that I think many people can relate to at some point in their lives. The fact that she is just plain adorable doesn't hurt either. Zoe Lister Jones (Alice) is great too. The humor in Lola Versus is sometimes quite subtle. To truly appreciate the movie, you have to really pay attention to catch the pieces of genius throughout this film. I found it even better the second time around because I missed some things the first time I watched it. The ratings on Rotten Tomatoes does NOT do this film justice. When a movie like The Hangover gets four stars on Rotten Tomatoes, it really gives you perspective on the humor that is appreciated by the reviewing audience of that website. Don't take offense people, all I am saying is that Lola Versus has a more sophisticated style that is not appreciated by everyone..Score: 5/5

When we’re lost we screw up ...When we’re lost we screw up and may not know what to do ... To “kind of quote” Jim Rohn ... when your in a dark room you take little small step, why because your unsure ... but when the light is on you take bold steps and become visionary. [My opinion/feeling: This movie left me feeling heart broken at points for mankind and it reminded me that the we are lost, aching/longing for the truth ... and it’s not in drugs, sex, alcohol, horoscopes/etc, movies, things, ourselves or people ... it’s only in JC, when we’re silent and seeking God we can hear Him calling us. The trick is recognizing its God we truly need, though all of nature is calling out, we resist and try everything else first sometimes, when really we just need to surrender and rest in Him and serve others. There is a great line in here about learning to love yourself maybe more about learning to love others!] This was a good movie about how we have to find ourself and sometimes, something traumatic causes us to hit reset or start searching for who are we really and that the things around us are viewed through our perspective and sometimes are not the truth about us..Score: 3/5

Loved it—I've been there—so trueJust look at the "rotten" reviewers—all dudes. I loved this little film, and now I really wish I'd seen it in the theater when I first heard about it. I'm an SF-dwelling female in her 30s who was dumped by her fiancé a couple years back. Trust me, it rings plenty true—heart-achingly true in some scenes, actually. It brought a lot of that first year back—but in a good way, because I've grown past it now. The screenwriters nailed it, and I'll definitely keep an eye out for what they do next..Score: 4/5
