Tommy Cowley (Aneurin Barnard) lives a quiet life in a decaying apartment complex with his very pregnant wife. The couple is attacked one day by a group of hooded young thugs, and after a shocking act of violence, Tommy is left to raise his newborn daughter alone. So shaken by the events that he’s developed extreme agoraphobia, Tommy alternates his days hiding out from imagined threats in his new flat and intense therapy sessions aimed at bringing him back to normalcy. When the same hooded gang—seemingly intent on kidnapping his daughter— begins terrorizing his life again, he’s torn between his paralyzing fear and protective parental instinct. With the help of a vigilante priest who has uncovered the genesis of this ruthless, potentially supernatural gang, Tommy must overcome his fears and venture into the heart of the abandoned tower block known as the Citadel to save his family.
Chronically agoraphobic since the day his wife was murdered, Tommy Cowley finds himself terrorized by a gang of syringe-wielding feral children, who are intent on taking his baby daughter. Upon discovering the nightmarish truth surrounding these hooded children, he learns that to be free of his fears, he must finally face the demons of his past and enter the one place he fears the most - the abandoned tower block, known as the Citadel.

Agoraphobic CreepinessThis guy does an amazing job playing the agoraphobic father. He is absolutely convincing, which for me is what makes or breaks a film. Ignore the naysayers and just give it a try. You may not like the movie, but you cannot help but appreciate Tommy's pure fear..Score: 4/5

Phenomenal Psychological ThrillerSuch a great indie horror film! The brilliance of Ciaran Foy and his directorial style is just breathtaking. The atmosphere absolutley captures agoraphobia and after watching you can't help but feel paranoid yourself. A definite must watch..Score: 5/5

Decent Movie.On the whole, "Citadel" contained an interesting story and it was generally suspenseful and creepy. The main character is struggling with extreme anxiety after a horrifying accident. However, his constant anxiety is so frustration and obnoxious that it gave me anxiety. It was annoying. Apart from that, it was a decent horror film. The scary parts were sometimes intense but the scares actually seemed to take away from the intensity and scariness. I don't know, I only saw it once and I was a hopeful but let down. Despite that, it was still enjoyable and I'd probably watch it again with others who haven't already seen it. It's worth the watch because its one of those that some people will like but you won't and visa versa. So, you won't know unless you watch it..Score: 3/5
Gripping and scaryTerrifying! I'm a huge fan of Irish cinema, and this director is definitely worth following. Ciaran Foy is a master of horror. His depiction of agoraphobia is spot-on. This film is twisted and captivating. One of the most underrated films of 2012..Score: 5/5
Great Psychological HorrorCaught this at SxSW at the midnight screening. It's a well-done psychological horror film that mostly avoids the cliched storytelling befalling most indie scare flicks. Atmospherically, it's a creep out, and there's enough twists, turns and general weirdness to keep the action and story moving along. And it has great performances to boot. Foy is definitely a director to watch - can't wait to see what he does with a Hollywood budget..Score: 5/5
Boring!!!Seriously i love horror movies and from the look of the trailer it seemed really interesting. i couldn't even watch an hour of it... it was seriously that boring! i couldn't believe people gave it such high reviews. sad that i paid $4 dollars and couldn't even finish the movie but everybody makes mistakes :(.Score: 1/5
