Blade Runner Movie Reviews

  • 5 stars because Blade Runner

But the final cut really is better imo. The voiceover in this version is very monotone and becomes an unnecessary exposition device later in the film, telling after showing which becomes redundant. The original ending is an eyesore, very out of place and a Deus Ex Machina. The final cut fixes some goofs as well.

Terrible. Boring. What was the point of anything? Why is he a blade runner? Why is it called a blade runner? Why did he fall in love with that robot he only met once? I can’t believe this has good reviews.
  • The best version by far

All the other versions are too dark, hopeless, and hopeless is boring. This is is bleak with a crack of light at the end of the tunnel. Makes it all worthwhile.
  • Please watch the Final Cut

I couldn't rate this 1 star but I almost made the mistake of buying this version instead of the Final Cut. This 'theatrical cut' is the studio taking a piece of art and making it commercialized. While this version isn't necessarily terrible, it defintiely is inferior to the Final Cut. Watch that instead!!

It is had to believe this movie was made in 1982. It looks great and I finally watched it for the first time because I want to watch the sequel. Ridley Scott is a movie making genius. Loved this film!

I'm giving 3 stars to the theatrical version of the film. The Final Cut is absolutely a 5 star film. Please, please if you're here looking to watch this film for the first time in anticipation of the sequel, run, don't walk away from this bastardized version and grab "The Final Cut" version. The studio tried hard to ruin this film with an unnecessary and poorly done Philip Marlowe-type narration that ruins the narrative structure of the film. Worse, they tacked on a ridiculously out of place "happy ending" because they have decided that's what you need. Happy happy endings! I've written a review on the "The Final Cut" version that dives more deeply into why the studio changes and narration were so damaging to the film, so if you're interested please look there. I'll just say that ambiguity and uncertainty were the underpinnings of Deckard's journey, and they were torn away by the studio with the awful narration becaue they deemed American film audeinces too stupid to follow the film without it. Watch "The Final Cut" and see (and feel) the film as Scott and Ford intended. It's a much more enriching sci-fi expereince.

Blade Runner is a Sci-Fi Masterpiece. Amazing performances, story, characters, effects, visuals, choreography, and a beautiful monologue. This movie is one of the best science fiction movies ever made up with Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, Terminator, and Matrix. Everyone must watch this. 10/10

This was the first time I saw the movie. For it being released in 1982, I wasn't putting my hopes up. But dude! This was totally bitchin! Very action packed and believeable world. I really felt for the characters. Funny how in 2 years LA won't be like this though...

Anything I write will have already been written 100 times about this film. I was just 6 when it released into theaters. This was one of the first laser discs we had, yes pre VHS technology. It wasn't until I was older and had seen it about 100 times that it finally sunk in. The narrative is still relevant today. The original cut was the best cut, there's something to be said for instinct and this was the cut they felt was best for telling the story to a paying audience. I wonder if Ridley Scott had any idea, any at all that he was making a legendary, instant classic when he filmed this movie? Just another notch on Harrison's belt, but easily one of his best.
