The greatest love story ever told, Wuthering Heights is an excitingly fresh and distinct take on the classic novel by Emily Brontë.
A passion. An obsession. A love that destroyed everyone it touched.. Young orphan Heathcliff is adopted by the wealthy Earnshaw family and moves into their estate, Wuthering Heights. Soon, the new resident falls for his compassionate foster sister, Cathy. The two share a remarkable bond that seems unbreakable until Cathy, feeling the pressure of social convention, suppresses her feelings and marries Edgar Linton, a man of means who befits her stature. Heathcliff vows to win her back.
I want my 2 hrs of my life back.
the cinematography is amazing. the director captured the raw beauty of the English countryside and portrayed the book wonderfully. I love how dark and gloomy everything is and this is now one of my favorite movies ever. hands down rate this a 10/10.
Despite the gorgeous sceneries and emotional atmosphere, the plot and original power of the novel were pretty much diminished. Not only was volume two (the part where Heathcliff sets off his full revenge on not only Hindley, but on the next generation) completely deleted, so was the intensity and insanity of the characters’ dialogues gone. The director seems to reinterpret the novel in a poetic and elegant fashion, but failed to realized that the brutality and rawness of the original story is the core as to why the characters are intoxicatingly beautiful. I do not recommend this movie to those who truly love the novel, because this is not a complete and realistic portrayal of the original story.
I really enjoyed the movie and I plan on watching it again on my big screen TV.
If you've read the book, this adaptation will be disappointing. Needless to say, I've read the book.
The focus weighed too heavily on being artsy and dramatic. It just came off weird and hard to follow. However I LOVE Kaya (Cathy) and thought she did a great job as usual!
Do not watch this miserable waste of 2 hours of your short life. Dark, sordid, cruel, sadistic, and I pray those animals were not needlessly hurt in the making of this trashy film. I will make sure I never watch another movie from any of the people involved in this awful awful film. No words to say how horrible it was. I'd sooner watch a dracula movie. Cannot purge my head of this soon enough. I'd like to give it a minus 100 star rating but I'm afraid in order to post this I might have to give it a star.
The English was hard to understand and the plot wasn't that good. The ratings are very misleading! In all, it's not even worth renting.
Just shoot yourself before you put yourself through the misery of watching this movie.... More fun and entertaining to watch yourself bleed out than watching the literary crap.... I normally would have loved something like this and decided to give it a shot!! I needed a shot after watching this!!
This is the best adaptation I've seen of Emily Bronte's book and the first that seemed to accurately portray her writing. The reviews that mention the film being too dark, cruel, etc. must not be familiar with this story. Arnold doesn't stray away from the brutality of the book and for the first time I felt like I was watching the sort of adaptation that this classic novel deserves. Beautiful cinematography, quality acting--amazing movie.
