Johnny Guitar (1954) Film Synopsis
On the outskirts of town, the hard-nosed Vienna owns a saloon frequented by the undesirables of the region, including Dancin' Kid and his gang. Another patron of Vienna's establishment is Johnny Guitar, a former gunslinger and her lover. When a heist is pulled in town that results in a man's death, Emma Small, Vienna's rival, rallies the townsfolk to take revenge on Vienna's saloon – even without proof of her wrongdoing.

Overwrought angst-fest of endless clichesThis is a real pot-boiler of a overcooked hamfest, with a script so sodden with adolescent aggression that every character behaves like a juvenile delinquent, ready to explode.
This is a western cousin to Petrified Forest and just about any angry,overwrought, dialogue-heavy film you have ever imagined. Every one of the cast and crew must have been on a diet of a half-gallon of maalox a day. I can't iagine how Ward Bond sould stand doing this picture.
It reminds one of how much they don't like Joan Crawford and indicates of how much booze Sterling Hayden required to stop from tearing her head off..Furutan1Score: 2/5

Prvním, kdo se filmu zastal a rozpoznal jeho kvality, byl francouzský kritik (a později slavný režisér) Francois Truffaut, který ve své dobové recenzi mj. napsal, že mu snímek připomíná Krásku a Zvíře s tím, že Kráskou je tu Sterling Hayden (představitel titulní postavy) a Zvířetem Joan Crawfordová, která s gustem ztělesnila majitelku saloonu Viennu. Dnes je Johnny Guitar právem pokládán za klasické dílo padesátých let, které svým příběhem i zpracováním předběhlo dobu. In one of the most famous cliff hangers of the series, the season finale finds Dex being kidnapped by Yuri and his gang as Amanda and Michael recite their wedding vows. Dex breaks free from his captors and heads for the chapel, where terrorists have opened fire on the entire wedding party.
