Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Denzel Washington ("Training Day," "American Gangster") stars as John Q. Archibald, an ordinary man who works at a factory and takes care of his family. But when John Q.'s young son needs an emergency heart transplant -- an operation that he can't afford and his health insurance won't cover -- John Q. will do anything to keep his son alive. As time and options run out, a desperate gamble becomes the only hope for John Q, as he takes an unwitting group of people hostage in the hospital emergency room. Now as many in the ER need medical care themselves and John Q. faces off with veteran police hostage negotiator and quick-tempered police chief, can a nonviolent end be found to a desperate situation?

John Quincy Archibald is a father and husband whose son is diagnosed with an enlarged heart and then finds out he cannot receive a transplant because HMO insurance will not cover it. Therefore, he decides to take a hospital full of patients hostage until the hospital puts his son's name on the donor's list.

Beware the Multiple Positive PosterSame person is posting multiple positive comments, so beware. Review the linguistics and the pattern emerges. Apparently, the user posting under multiple accounts must really love D. W. Probably one of those I-am-your-biggest-fan fanatics. Regardless, boring movie, canned plot, highly predictable scenes, and that same stoic face from Washington. He has the same bland facial expressions in every movie, kind of like he needs anger management courses or something imho, and yes, only my opinion (no harm, no foul). Deutsch Fabrikarbeiter John Q. Archibald ist zum Äusersten entschlossen! Sein Sohn Michael ist schwer erkrankt und benötigt dringend eine Herztransplantation. Český John Q. Archibald je obyčejný starostlivý otec rodiny, jakých jsou na celém světě miliony. Pracuje v továrně a se svými blízkými se snaží trávit co nejvíce času. Jednoho dne se mu však zhroutí celý svět. Jeho syn onemocní a má-li přežít, je nutná okamžitá transplantace srdce. Na ní se však nevztahuje pojištění a tak je nové srdce malému Michaelovi odepřeno. Čas běží a situace začíná být zoufalá. John se proto rozhodne pro krajní řešení. Vezme zaměstnance operačního sálu jako rukojmí, zabarikáduje se s nimi v nemocnici a trvá na operaci svého syna.
