The all-time scariest movie I ever sawThis movie (and the book) were beyond terrifying. Probably King's best work. I remember watching this as a mini-series on network television in the late 70s and could not sleep for months. To this day this movie will scare the pants off anyone and still creeps me out. Brilliant story, great acting, good use of atmosphere and score. The scene where Stephen King is awoken by the Nosferatu in the jail cell is legendary. A must watch (not by yourself though)..Score: 5/5
Mr. Barlow is King’s GOATThe blue fanged face of the master vampire - Mr. Barlow is easily one of the scariest images I’ve ever seen in any movie the jail house scene in this miniseries is one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen. Salem’s Lot is one of King’s greatest works and this Tobe Hooper miniseries is way better than it’s given credit for….Score: 5/5

Long and boringThis is the 3-hour version of a TV mini-series. It's very long and slow to develop - I fell asleep numerous times. There are a few creepy moments, but you can watch these on YouTube rather than suffering through 3 hours of this. Also the characters are all thin such that you don't really care about any of them..Score: 2/5

Underated classicFinally, it's here! This is the best vampire movie that I have ever seen. When I saw this as a kid, I was scared for the rest of my life. It nails all the trops, but from the perfect angle. Nice escalation of tension too. The end looks like it was finished in hurry..Score: 5/5
Excellent but..I saw reviews that said this was the scariest movie ever made and while it was a great movie, it’s not scary in 2020. It’s definitely a classic and fun to watch but we need a 2020 version..Score: 4/5

The scariest mini-series everThis put Stephen King on the map and sent his book sales through the roof. It's a good TV horror movie, which originally aired as a two-part miniseries. At the end of part one, when the windows open it's truly scary (at least it was by 1970's standards). Unfortunately, most of the movie adaptions of his books have not been spectacular, including the original version of It (although the remake is much better). If you think the 'Salem's Lot miniseries is good, read the book. It is the scariest book I ever read in my life (and it has been over forty years since I've read it). You keep turning the pages in a futile attempt to make the bad things go away. But they don't..Score: 5/5
The absolute best horror film ever made.I cannot express how much this film has meant over the years to myself and my brother. The atmosphere, the music, the location all build on top of a masterful Stephen King story. Tobe Hooper achieves a beautifully crafted epic miniseries that exhibits true tension and terror. Much like any great horror film, the story is paramount. And this story delivers on top of the aforementioned elements. At the end of the three hour film, I always find myself wondering how it went by so quickly. For fans of King, Hooper, atmosphere & true chills, don't miss this classic..Score: 5/5
