How far would you go to protect your family? Oscar® nominee Hugh Jackman stars as a man facing every parent's worst nightmare. His six-year-old daughter is missing, together with her young friend -- and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, the detective in charge arrests its driver , but a lack of evidence forces his release. As the police pursue multiple leads and pressure mounts, knowing his child's life is at stake, the frantic father decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. But just how far will he go to protect his family? Led by Jackman and Gyllenhaal, this dramatic thriller features an all-star cast, including Maria Bello as Keller's distraught wife; Oscar® nominees Terrence Howard and Viola Davis as the other parents, whose daughter also went missing; in addition to Academy Award® winner Melissa Leo.

Keller Dover faces a parent's worst nightmare when his 6-year-old daughter, Anna, and her friend go missing. The only lead is an old motorhome that had been parked on their street. VERY good acting! and thrilling chillsPrisoners is one of the most depressing and brutal crime mysteries since David Fincher's masterpiece Zodiac which also starred Jake Gyllenhaal. Solid performances, too darkThe actors in this movie gave SOLID performances… this movie was just way too dark for me. I didn’t realize how dark it would go, and i wasn’t necessarily prepared for it. My family and I grizzled thru to the end since we started it, but it was rough at times to keep watching - I’m not down with torture. Predictable and gratuitousSorry to say, although the actors do their best with this, it is completely formulaic and has been done a hundred times. Also, the opening scene, a hunting scene, has no relationship to the rest of the film and is completely unnecessary since the character of the older son is not brought into the movie, at all, but the film brings nothing new to comprehending the phenomena of child killing or kidnapping. A warning should be placed on all such films for animal lovers who don't want to watch a creature being used in this way and the qualification from the American Humane Society, who claim to have "monitored some scenes" makes me think a real shooting took place. Quite good as it is, but oh what it could have been...Really engaging, and kept me glued to the screen til the end. Although there were some things I felt silly for not having figured out earlier, there were some that I felt weren't fully explained (or maybe I just missed something). I felt that they kind of glossed over the whole moral dillema that Hugh Jackman's character faced and felt the end was a bit of a cop-out in terms of any sort of recloning for him. I think a real opportunity was missed in terms of exploring his character coming to grips with what this terrible situation forced him to do. It seems they tried to expose this quandry through the reactions of the other characters around him more than to focus on his internal struggle, which I think was unfortunate. They seemed to want to portray Gylenhaal in a light other than that of the typical cop, but didn't really go anywhere interms of fleshing out his character which would have been interesting, as well as perhaps a little more on Jackman's char's past. Despite these reservations, I think it succeeds as a purely plot driven type of thing, which is not the easiest thing to do. I've given it a 4 here althought after digesting it a bit it feels more like a 3.5. A good watch.XwebofliesxScore: 4/5

Engaging from the startI went into this movie knowing full well the length of it, and was immediately concerned that I was going to have to sit through a rather long lead up. I was pleasantly surprised to find otherwise in this gripping thriller, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a movie that pulls you in as much as this did me, I will say though, the ending is rather different, to say the least.
