Oldboy follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor's motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

WeirdMe and my wife been wanting to see this movie for awhile. We didn't know that it was a remake, and actually caught the original a few weeks before we were able to see this version. This movie was all over the place, I know Spike Lee does some different directing when it comes to his movies but the fighting scene didn't seem real at all including the gang fights. I will admit I didn't see an ending like that coming which at the same time was kinda sick in a way but, different. I don't really recommend this movie, definitely don't buy it but if your looking for something to watch to kill some time try this one..T-Rock79Score: 2/5

A thrilling adventure!I haven't seen the original film but this movie was great in it's own way. The plot, action sequences, and ending was pitch perfect. Overall it was certainly worth watching. Apples and orangesNot a big fan of Spike Lee movies. Thought this movie was really good. If you go in trying to compare the original to the new version you may be disappointed. I did like the detail of the beginning of the movie in the new version, but still like the original ending in the old version. The new version ending is more up to date, but lost the shock value how it ends. Not sure if it was just because I already knew what was going to happened in the end. Fried Fast food vs. a live squirming octopusHad I not watched the original, I would have enjoyed this film. As it was, I was disappointed in the cinematography and elements of the characters were not as well developed. One scene says it all: I want to eat something alive vs. More deep-fried calamari, please.

A "clocker" is a 24-hour drug dealer, and Strike (Mekhi Phifer) is the hardest-working one on the streets. But for Strike, time is running out. When the local drug kingpin (Delroy Lindo) tips Strike off about an opportunity for advancement, a rival dealer ends up dead, and Strike suddenly finds himself caught between two homicide detectives. The other is Rocco (Harvey Keitel), who's looking for something much harder to find - the truth - and when Strike's law-abiding brother confesses to the murder, Rocco vows not to rest until he's sure the real shooter is behind bars.
