Errol Morris turns his camera on one of the most fascinating men in the world: the pioneering astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, afflicted by a debilitating motor neuron disease that has left him without a voice or the use of his limbs. An adroitly crafted tale of personal adversity, professional triumph, and cosmological inquiry, Morris’s documentary examines the way the collapse of Hawking’s body has been accompanied by the untrammeled broadening of his imagination. Telling the man’s incredible story through the voices of his colleagues and loved ones, while making dynamically accessible some of the theories in Hawking’s best-selling book of the same name, A Brief History of Time is at once as small as a single life and as big as the ever-expanding universe.
This shows physicist Stephen Hawking's life as he deals with the ALS that renders him immobile and unable to speak without the use of a computer. Hawking's friends, family, classmates, and peers are interviewed not only about his theories but the man himself.

A "Timeless" ClassicWhat an amazing film. Great to see this film in HD after all these years. Morris and Glass make a perfect duo once again. Morris's craftmanship is just as spectacular as any 3D film in theaters today. A fun mix of biography, theology, and the nature of the human condition. How far can we take the limits of our knowledge? Can we know the mind of God? Or does the universe simply exist for the sake of existing? A fascinating film that explores the captivating mysteries of the universe as well as the endearing stories of Hawking's life through his own commentary as well as that of friends and relatives..Score: 5/5

It’s a big disappointmentThis documentary could have been better, and it needed a different title. It’s all about Hawking; very little about the universe. Besides, there’s no closed captioning for the hearing impaired, which makes it practically impossible to understand what is being said. Furthermore, the documentary doesn’t tell you who are the people contributing to the documentary. If I’d known all this, I wouldn’t have wasted my money..Score: 2/5
More on the Universe and less on Hawking pleaseThe science and questions are fascinating but, once again, we are force fed sympathy and admiration in the name of the cult of Hawking.
