As her needs and desires grow in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual and unconventional love for each other.
Alone in the mountains of Switzerland, Anne discovers that her isolated chalet is on surveillance and has been bugged. Caught up by her former life as an intelligence secret agent and an affair with her handler, Anne can only count on herself to get out alive.

Timely, provocative and moving4.5 stars. Smart, wise, moving, by turns pretty funny and very sad. If you see it only as a love-and-robots movie, you're totally missing the point. On the surface, yes, it's a cautionary tale about our increasing absorption in the digital world at the cost of our already limited capacities to form meaningful relationships in the real one. That's a great message for a society where people are forgetting how to speak to or make eye contact with one another because we're all too busy fiddling with our handheld devices. But on a deeper level this movie is really about the difficulties of human relationships, not computer ones -- that's just the operating surface metaphor, and a darn clever and timely one. Jonze's Oscar-winning screenplay does a great job of weaving those two lines. It's also interesting that all the guys are nerds and all the females (including the computerized one) aggressive and take-charge. Not sure if that makes this a feminist or an anti-feminist story, but it does make it an intriguing one. The cast is excellent. Things drag a little toward the end, but then Jonze adds a few more plot points for a very successful and very thought-provoking conclusion. Anyone who has loved and lost and lived to try again will feel what this movie is really about. It'll stick with you for a long time..Score: 4/5

Excellent film - worth the timeI've read some of the negative reviews here in iTunes and I suspect those folks just don't "get it". This is a very interesting sociological and character drive film (note "film" not movie). Her makes you think a little and asks many interesting questions…it even makes you a bit uncomfortable as it draws our attention to the potential to be drawn into a virtual world even further by technology. The attraction we all have to our smartphones and being "connected" is already out of control and Her begs the question - What happens if we go further. Joaquin gives an excellent performance as a man who has drawn within himself after being rejected… His rediscovery of what's really important is a bit unique and the treatment of that journey is too. Yes it's a bit slow moving for those who want car-crashes, handguns, aliens or teenage vampires but in terms of a great "film"…it's right up there with some of the best..Score: 4/5

Woefully Wishful Wimp - HimVery slow moving dystopian future (chic?) flick with a dash of 2001 + THX 1138. It does contain a few thought provoking ideas about the basis and evolution of relationships. But the execution is just a wee bit tedious and the AI is not as bright, all-knowing or understanding as "her" ought to be given the resources "her" has in her data banks and the rapidity at which it can be accessed and analyzed. It's OK but not mind blowing..Score: 3/5

Wow!Honestly this movie is something special. I first thought the concept itself was really strange, and might be a little to far fetched to really enjoy, but as soon as the near future was shown it captivated me. This movie isn't a blockbuster or so teen book. This movie is really deep with a lot of questions to ask about today's society. If you are a fan of powerful performances, and something more deep than good verses evil than this movie will definitely be enjoyed by someone like that..Score: 5/5
WowI saw the trailers in theatres a while ago, and was not impressed, but decided to watch this movie anyhow. It didn’t really resonate with me at all. As social commentary, I found it lacking, and much longer than it really needed to be, to get the same point across. Most boring and depressing movie everWith all the hype I rented this and had to walk away after 45 minutes. This movie seems to be for near-suicidal, depressed people looking for a little bit of hope. I found nothing inspiring or moving about what I watched. Just a guy moping around living vicariously through virtual reality and the lead would have been best played by Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. 45 minutes and $5.99 I will never get back.
