In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and OmniCorp – the world’s leader in robot technology – sees a golden opportunity to reap billions for their company.  When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured, OmniCorp grabs their chance to build a part-man, part-robot police officer.  OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and will stop at nothing – no matter the cost to Alex – to make sure the program succeeds.  But OmniCorp never counted on one thing: there is still a man fighting inside the machine.

In a violent, near-apocalyptic Detroit, evil corporation Omni Consumer Products wins a contract from the city government to privatize the police force. To test their crime-eradicating cyborgs, the company leads street cop Alex Murphy into an armed confrontation with crime lord Boddicker so they can use his body to support their untested RoboCop prototype. But when RoboCop learns of the company's nefarious plans, he turns on his masters.

Fail. Awful. Bad.The original RoboCop was rated R because it had lots of sexual enuendo, bad one liners and megga violence. Who remembers the the chemicals spilling on the bad guy and as he begins to melt from the acid, RoboCop hits him with the car and the bag guy splats across the windscreen! Awesome! This movie has none of that. This movie is a sappy love story with a breath of taste of the original. Some of the graphics are not bad, but I can't figure the hand out... When he is not in the RoboCop suit, his hand is proped up, just kinda hanging out over there. Bad movie. Buy the original..Ronin SherpaScore: 1/5

Well Done.. Looking for the next one!Its not as edgy or humors as the original, or as ruthless, but its a well done movie, and compliments robocop. Better than expectedI was in college when the original came out in the late 80’s. It was a very nostalgic movie for me, with a mesmerizing story that was both tongue-in-cheek and poignant at the same time. The remake doesn’t quite equal the original. However, this movie, on its own and without comparing is fairly well done. It’s biggest flaws are the actors who play Murphy and his wife — bland performances. A great start, until it runs out of steamThe first act is a reimagining of the original with 2014 sensibilities - it has promise, but lacks the grit; everything seems so sanitized. But still, it starts off to a very interesting beginning with a slight twist to the original movie. Then the second half of the movie is, well, the complete opposite - an uninspired rehash of the original movie. Warning... This is not the originalGoing into a reboot, look at the facts, it is not the original so you should not treat it as such. This is a different time and therefore there is going to be many differences. Sure they brought some things over from the original (the joke about the dollar), and the story is similar, but it is not the same movie. This movie makes you really think about a pushy government, media influence, and moral judgement. Is it better than the original? Not great, but ok.The movie is 40% different from the original movie, but it includes hints from the original too. The main plot focuses on Alex Murphy and his family. Some ways it's better than the original, other ways, not so muchMy title says it all. Showing Murphy's human side once he's turned into a robot is good and so much better than the original. In some ways the lead up to the unveiling of the Robocop and the emotional aftermath is fairly realistic; for a science fiction movie. However the intrinsic man trying to overcome the cold robotic programming of his current existence, which was done better than in the original; something that is key to this series. There isn't enough time to develop or it wasn't done well enough to show that conflict. Plus the whole overwhelming capitalistic theme that was present in the orignal isn't there. Yes there's a multinational corporations but it doesn't feel evil or overbearing in any way. It's just there; there's no menance. That said, I liked the movie but am still a little ambiguous about it..Knight WolfScore: 3/5
