Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster "300," this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield - on the sea - as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. "300: Rise of an Empire" pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

These battle save Western civilization understand history people don't you think that's importantAlbeit somewhat fictionalized this is a true story the Greco -Persian war existed. the Persians attempted to conquer the west they were defeated by the symbolic stand of Leonaidis at Thermoplyae where the Persians got a taste of how difficult a conquest would be. One month later even though burning Athens the Persians would succumb to the great naval power of Themistocles and the Greek allies and the Greek naval superiority and victory at Salamis! I don't care if people don't like it -understand it did happen and understand the Persians lost.Leonaidis!Score: 5/5
And OK Omage to 300This movie started off strong although the CGI will give you a headache after a while. They really over did the CGI in this movie to the point none of it looks even remotely real. Add to that the gratuitous use of blood and nudity did nothing to help the plot or the pacing of the movie. There is one scene were you don’t understand why that happened or why they put it into the movie. Other than the abysmal plot the movie slows down considerably toward the end with a less than satisfactory ending..Kjaviss84Score: 3/5

Wow . . . that was awful.Went in with low expectations and this movie didn't even meet those. The original was a solid, entertaining flick. Not great. But solid. I don't know what they were trying to do with this (other than seperate me from my money.) There was some decent CGI and general production values and the actors did what they could with what they had to work with. But this movie is an epic fail. Fantastic follow-upI really enjoyed it since it was now the Athenians turn to prove their worth and it was in style. Was hoping Eva will change her mind to back to her roots. A better movie than the originalBetter than the first for me ..Eva green is so talented ( watch her in penny dreadful btw) I wanna bed her and I am a gay male.. Sullivan Stapleton and Lena Hadley fill the void of no Gerard butler but it doesn't matter as the movie includes him but doesn't need him to move the plot along..the fight scenes are crisp and original ( a hard thing to do these days)..
