Based on the horrifying real-life murder of a young California girl, this "powerful portrait" (Newsweek) of deadly, disaffected teens stars Keanu Reeves (The Matrix), Crispin Glover (Charlie's Angels), Ione Skye Leitch (One Night Stand), Daniel Roebuck (Final Destination) and Dennis Hopper (Ed TV) in a tale that is "chilling to witness" (The New York Times). On the bank of a river lies the naked body of a brutally murdered young girl. At the nearby high school, Samson (Roebuck) brags to Matt (Reeves) and his friends about how he killed her. Drunk and stoned, the doubting teens trudge to the river and discover that he isn't lying. And oddly, they decide to protect Samson behind a loyal wall of secrecy. Tormented with guilt, Matt questions their silence and suddenly finds himself in a troubling position: should he do what he thinks is right, or should he keep quiet and live with this demon for the rest of his life?
A group of high-school friends must come to terms with the fact that one of them, Samson, killed another, Jamie. Faced with the brutality of death, each must decide whether to turn their friend in to the police, or to help him escape the consequences of his dreadful deed.

Passionately GrittyThere is a grittiness to this film. Not just they telling of the story but the way it was captured. I have seen many movies try, and fail, to capture the grit in their story by simply shooting dark. This film is done splendidly and with a superb cast. Every character counts, they all have something to be felt even if it is for just a moment. Brilliantly done I look forward to the day Reeves out does this performance..Score: 5/5

Hidden gem from the 80'sOne movie that has stuck over the years. Crispin Glover is haunting , especially if u have grown up with people like this. Keanu is coherent , Hopper chaotic and brilliant. It has that surely messed up now kid from Near Dark. See this movie !!.Score: 5/5
