When renowned paleontologist Peter Larson and his team from the Black Hills Institute made the world's greatest dinosaur discovery in 1990, they knew it was the find of a lifetime: the largest, most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex ever found. But during a 10-year battle with the U.S. government, powerful museums, Native American tribes and competing paleontologists, they found themselves not only fighting to keep their dinosaur, but fighting for their freedom as well.
Two years after the discovery of "Sue," the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton found to date, government officials seize the remains and claim that "Sue" was stolen from federal land.

Astonishing human interest pieceThis film is about people. People whose passion for paleontology is exploited by philanthropists and an ill-informed federal government. Despite the injustices, the movie does a superb job of tapping into the pioneering spirit of its subjects. If I can ever learn to love anything as much as these people love fossils, I’ll consider my life a success..Score: 5/5

Absolutely outrageous what some will do for personal profit.The ‘man’ on whose land this fossil was found should have been publicly horse-whipped for his avarice. The legal difficulties of those who discovered the fossilized dinosaur are indicative of a world gone mad by bureaucrat toadies. A genuine record of something great that was prostituted by greedy people and an insane government. A classic study of the courage of scientists and the failure of government to use common sense..Score: 5/5

Very goodThis is the story of how an ambitious and incompetent political appointee can destroy lives. it is the story of a duplicitous “Indian”, whose stated “my handshake is good”, isn’t. It is the story of a Federal judge that allowed personal feelings to interfere with justice. It is the story about a government run amok. Oh, and its an otherwise boring story of the discovery of some old bones. At $6.99 for a 90 minute documentary it is fairly priced..Score: 4/5
